The vote on the 20th December is to try to make Ashley a director, not CEO.
Doubtless, if he succeeds, he will be a non exec. So, in the short term atleast, he won't be driving the business.
Which is a good thing, given his track record and his inability to communicate any form of vision.
Imo Umar wouldn't have come back, and he wouldn't be acting in the way he is, if it was to stitch anybody up
