It's because nobody here knows a damn thing and we're all just a bunch of overly hopeful buggers clinging onto a cool name (that's essentially all VAL offer at this point). I'm closer than most here to "the inside" as my job requires it but even I know zilch. None here probably want admit it, but we've all been a bit thick by keeping money here. There are a handful of other sub 25m mcap AIM stocks with plenty of potential.
Anyone got any thoughts on how long it will take for vrs to reach a 1bn mcap? I think it's a given. My projection is 3 - 4 years.
What happened here? Should be a speeding ticket for an unnecessary drop! Chasm of a spread too.
Anyone concerned by the charts? How well do they apply to volatile AIM stocks? Weekly MACD is looking lovely, but the RSI is showing as overbought? My initial thoughts are that this looks like it still has plenty of legs, but we should probably expect some pullback in the short term. To be completely honest, I don't know much about charting and whether it's applicable, but I'm searching for a way to better determine entry and exit points as I've made the mistake of a) selling winners too soon b) holding on to losers that are spiraling down, in the hope they recover
Spoke too soon!
You could also be right. Oftentimes though, if things aren't going our way, we'll start to think of it as manipulation. I see where you're coming from, but also, MMs aren't in this out of charity.
I agree. Investors tend to look for the negatives in an RNS and it detracts from the positive aspects. I suppose it's because AIM stocks essentially survive on positive news, so it's a somewhat rational reaction. They didn't sell everything, so perhaps they took some healthy profit while they let the remainder ride the waves. Perfectly legitimate and nobody is in this to lose money.
It's not that the FCA won't take action; the quality of reporting by financial firms - brokers, investment supermarkets, market makers, etc. - is often not adequate. There are exceptions of course. It takes significant resources - software (which will improve with the implementation of AI) and analysts with the right mindset - to monitor transactions, and provide the FCA with quality STORs and the NCA with quality SARs. It's a battle. The issue with AIM is that it's set up rather well to be abused, although not by intention I suspect. It's a good thing that small companies have a vehicle through which they can grow, but it brings with it opportunity for would be market abusers. It will become more and more difficult for them however, as the FCA are putting more pressure on firms to improve their reporting. For the record, I'm not necessarily AIMing these comments at the RNS released today. It seems fairly innocent, with albeit slightly poor timing. I suspect a drop tomorrow as people inevitably panic sell. Everyone is entitled to buy and sell though, and it seems that's exactly what this couple did. The Jason Cropper situation with PYC however, that's another STORy.
A valid point for sure. Certainly not beyond reasonable response time, but believe me, the FCA are keen to know everything. I've seen a tr 1 for braemar shipping get released a year late. So it does happen.
Trades like this could actually be considered market abuse. Reporting of significant trades at a time when the general public do not have sufficient time to react could be construed as abuse by negligence, rather than deliberate abuse. Both are still considered MAR breaches by the FCA. AIM is rife with it and in a recent speech Julia Hoggett, Director of Market Oversight for the FCA, it is evident that they are going to step up their game, and are encouraging financial firms to follow suit. Negligence is not an excuse for a MAR breach.
Another top up opportunity perhaps? It seems this little down trend has enough volume and momentum to take us a bit lower still. Anyone have any concerns/thoughts for the short-term?
Seems like a rather positive announcement, but not much price movement in response. Is it simply under-watched or in the grand scheme of things, a relatively insignificant announcement?
New to the boards, but been following the chat and using the website for ages. This response is likely a harsh reality check. Hope is fading rapidly now. What a let down.
