Livenlearn...I suspect they realise China and other countries supply some of the components so if they were seen to protecting home supply and supplies of raw materials were cut off of slowed down this would create a huge finished goods supply problem...its political...keep China, Turkey and US happy for the moment and UK suppliers will just have to wait...
Volume, volume, volume and above all guaranteed supplies...the fact they may not even work properly doesn't appear to be an overriding factor...

The main box is obviously the overall use by date.
Depending on overall shelf life we still don't know whether or not the Distributor has already received new stock yet and they are just working off old first as is the norm. I used to have cases where our inventory comprised two use by dates...first stock was running low and used to fill small one off orders and second newer stock was used to fill larger orders. That way we didn't mix batches or use by dates in a single order.

Delta is still ripping through the UK and Europe and that's the elephant in the room right now..

gje306...I get you on that but do we know what the on the shelf time is for our LFT. That is to say if the shelf life is only 4 months for example then product produced end Oct would expire end Feb. Do we know what the use by date was for the first deliveries? If it was end Feb too then we know they are working off their first order. Do we also know what their first order volume was.

gje306...Distributors don't just ship from their own stock...they have usually have several options
1. Own stock sales.
2. Larger orders can often be put through to the manufacturer for direct delivery.
3. House Accounts these are orders taken direct by the Principal (Avacta) and shipped either direct from the Principals own stock (I doubt they hold their own stock at their own premises), fed through to the Distributor to ship from their stock or a special consignment stock held alongside specifically for House Accounts or direct from Manufacturer.

If House Accounts are fed direct to manufacturer, the Distributor is often made aware of such an order so they can add any large orders they wish to service from production rather than their stock or to add another stock order for themselves.

A good Distributor should have a flexible working relationship with their Principal and the Manufacturer.

JoSoap1...POINT Biopharma is a Nasdaq listed company with $739.9m market cap...however they don't have a revenue stream yet from the projects they are working on. They are themselves financed and as at 30 Sept 2021 had a cash balance of €242.28m. So the question of financing for our trials is a valid one IMO.

MrR...I beg to differ...I think it's a genuine questions. The cost of Clinical Trials in the US is far more expensive than in the UK and the markets will be very aware of this. Our income stream will have to be sizable as we move through the stages - each stage being more expensive than the previous one. That is why many small companies either fail, get mopped up by Pharma or have to go cap in hand to the markets. Our LFT is going to be a huge actor in all this and with a good headwind together with our income generating partnership deals could allow Avacta to self fund which would be pretty amazing.

If results are good in the UK, I suspect Big Pharma will be knocking at our door with a funding offer...I'm sure they're already watching...

Tipster...According to the Avacta website they never to the Brazilian mutation from UK authorities. I guess it all depends on whether or not Porton Down and other authorities actually understand our new tech/science and whether or not they are prepared to draw the same conclusion as Avacta based on previous variant data. All good if they do. My gut feeling is they probably won't and will require proof unless they are prepared to wave us through if we are close to being signed off on the basis they just need tests out there....
If they do need proof then they should in theory be running new tests on those that have been approved...is that likely? Who knows...

NR11...so basically it's a volume issue...the UK companies combined cannot supply enough to meet the UK's needs so they have to allow potentially inferior tests to be made available from USA, China and Turkey etc...

It appears to also be a simple case of....if you don't look you don't find...and now they're all looking and finding...and until the lady in SA spotted rapidly increasing rates of infection and looked further into it and discovered the new variant it might have still been rumbling around undetected.

As we know most LFT's don't pick up low viral loads and potentially the ones currently on sale in the UK might not even pick up this new variant at all. So, what to do...fall back on the PCR test, which is what it appears the Govt has done.

So, what to do at Porton Down and the current HUA tests? ...what to do with Christmas?...Ah! let's just wait another 3 weeks...let school kids have their school plays, Christmas pantos etc etc...then what? Don't panic...gulp...ski season and everyone travelling to see loved ones over Christmas...what about that? ...another big gulp...what to do?...what to do?...
Let's just carry on and hope we can get a good volunteer back up crew into our hospitals...and as long as the NHS can cope we should be fine...REALLY!!!????

We need highly motivated, educated and experience people at the helm not career politicians whose sole aim in life is to not answer the question.
Nobody with the right skills will ever run for office these days...its a dead end job...
Brexit and this Pandemic have shone a light on the desperate state of affairs within Governments in the West...
BTW I spoke to someone at Avacta today and most of the staff are still working from home or on a rotational basis...
