That's the thing. Mr Back didn't say HOW he was gonna improve the business. It read to me that he didn't have a clue as to how he's gonna get back (excuse pun) on track. They'll probably invent more management jobs with unfathamble titles on silly money, to work it out. Lol.

You can't really blame the govt either, although they maybe could have done better. Think about it logically. The EU don't want us to leave, so why on earth did people think we could get them to say ok we don't want you to leave, but we'll give you a better deal than you've got in the EU if you do leave. It makes no sense. They held the best hand and I'm afraid we just folded and lost.

This country is also on a downward slide. Hope everyone who voted for Brexit are pleased with their deluded selves.

EPS 13.6p. Divi circa 24p . How long is divi gonna last? That's my concern. More foot soldiers and less management is certainly a way of improving. I've said it before, mail gets collected, processed, sorted and delivered. It really isn't rocket science. Too many middle managers doing obscure things and not, as far as I can see, contributing much at all to the actual process ive outlined above. Need to get back to basics, and do them well. Any postie can tell you, we're really not struggling for business ATM.

Any more labour productivity, is just not going to happen. Whatever management forecast. Posties are already cut down to the bone and working harder than most folk do. Just can't see where they think savings will be made.

That's the thing. Any postie can see it's busy, however royal mail management don't seem very adept at turning this volume into profit. Don't know about you, but spring and summer this year were one of the busiest I have had and yet the latest results didn't reflect that in profits. We'll see this week. But I'm not holding my breath. I think it'll be ' everything rests on a successful Christmas, and, we face significant head winds, and competition ....blah blah blah.

Same in any FTSE company. Workers ( who the respective company would go under, without) get shafted. Big bosses ( who if they had a week off, the company would still manage fine) get the big salary and bonuses even if the company is failing. FTSE ceo's flit from one company to another getting richer and richer. What, you know nothing about our business? Never mind, come and be our CEO anyway, and here's a nice bonus to get you started. Same old same old I'm afraid.

Never ceases to amaze me how the union stands for this.

Overtime rate is only about 20p/hr more than normal rate, until you do more than 10 hrs a week, it then goes DOWN to less than normal time. That's why royal mail rely heavily on people doing overtime, they don't have to pay pension contributions on it. Trouble is it's getting so busy in November now that people have just had enough and throw a bit of sickness in and you have failed deliveries. Usually agency staff come in ,but they aren't meant to take special delivery items as they're not security passed. Some did get taken on at our office. Agency cost more than a postie at around £16/hr as opposed to £11. Of course, the agency staff are on minimum wage. The nature of the business makes staffing levels hard to get right ,hence the reliance on overtime. Royal mail would rather have too little staff than too many. We literally work every minute of our shift, there is no down time, apart from a 40min break.

Yeah volumes of mail and packets are high at our office too. Deffo no sign of a 7% drop off in mail anyway, lol. Only problem is, the ammount of overtime being paid out to cope with it all. That and the walks left in the office that don't go out because of long and short term sick abcence ; coz everyone doing so much overtime on their own . Guess it maybe works out cheaper for them rather than employing more staff, until they start getting fines for failing.

So you have over £25k worth of shares and you're asking a forum when the next divi is and how much? Really? Sorry, but the mind boggles with some of the stuff on LSE. More money than sense? Or just plain lazy?

This share dealing... Knew it wouldn't skip straight to £6 after results, but didn't expect this.
