A bit overdone but when you realise there's 6% for the div and 1.5-2% for general market sell off today it's 'only' another 2% off really. Not much consolation I know, it's a long term hold and fingers crossed for a builder friendly brexit deal next year.

If I'd had the courage to pull the trigger this morning at 325 I'd have done a quick turnaround and sold at 345 I think. Hindsight is wonderful though, but my point is, I wouldn't feel comfortable holding this too long, make a quick profit and sell is what allot will be doing. Some big boys and girls made a shed load this morning. Guaranteed. Let's see the after hrs trades.

I agree. A 7+% divi is almost unheard of in the (for now) FTSE 100. Ok, the builders have special divs at the moment which bring it up to 10% for some, and in the last oil price crash shell was 8% divi which they held but since the SP has risen, it's back to 5.5% ish now. Back would look bit silly though, cutting the divi and taking the millions in wages that he did. It's a tough call. The USO needs reviewing to move this company forward. Yes, Back has done a good job at GLS but does he know anything about delivering letters? My guess is he wants to turn RMG into another GLS, he just needs to sort ( excuse pun) the letters side out. The only way you can do it without making a loss is have staff to deliver parcels every day but then have staff on a three day week to just deliver letters three days a week. Of course, the USO has to go for that plan to be allowed. Watch this space.

I can't really see a catalyst to take this over £4 anytime soon. More likely under £3. They need to cut some fat from management side of it. There are people on £60k doing nothing productive. It's not rocket science, we collect, sort and deliver. They employ all these middle management without a clue and wonder why we waste money.

I did say 'by and large'. Many a time I have a suggestion for the office manager only to get, thanks but we do it this way ( the memo from above on the clipboard doesn't lie) then when they realise they've made a mess of it, they invariably do it the way I suggested, but of course it would be their idea. The good managers usually have their hands tied from those above. As a footnote, ' those above' have never done the job and are so out of touch they may as well be living in another country . I'd better stop there before I get myself into trouble. Lol.

Look mate, posties are working their butts off. There are no savings to be made. Packets are on the up, packets are much more labour intensive than letters to process and deliver. Although letters are dropping, although in my experience no way are they dropping 7% a yr. No way. Yes i was saying, letters are dropping a bit but it's not like we have half the letters so we only go to half the houses, I still have to drive a mile down a farm track if I have one letter or ten, do you see what I'm getting at. Managers by and large, in this company, are pretty thick, that's who to blame, not the posties , most of which are still delivering their last hr or two when the managers have long gone home.

The latest share save scheme was put some money from wages once a month that they buy for you at market value. If you put max amount in the company gave you 2 shares too. The sticking point is that you are obliged to keep hold of every monthly batch for 5 yrs respectively. I didn't go for this, as a, you have no control over the buy price and b, you are committed to keep each batch for 5 yrs. i.e you have to keep a yrs worth for 6 yrs to be able to sell all in one go.

It's the letters monopoly that's a noose around our necks. Just a thought I had, that £130m just about pays for our pay rise deal. Hmmm I wonder.

It's just the market. Look at Tesco today. 2% increase in profit and shares 8% down. That's shares for ya.

The shock of the last couple of days has been huge, however today's close is only 15p less than the sp a yr ago. People seem to be forgetting that.

You may get a second chance tomorrow morning can't see this bouncing back for a while. Managers giving out desparate talks to us about driving efficiency. They are worried about their bonus no doubt.
