Posties deserve their bonus at Christmas (£200 before tax, pro rata), it's not a fortune. Mangers will have to do without ( probably more like £1k) btw. Us posties are what make royal mail viable in November and December, without us working masses of overtime it simply would grind to a halt. Most posties are out there delivering well into the dark ATM while managers go home on time ( if they can't sneak away early) and have their feet up drinking tea at home while the workers are still out in 3degrees c and rain. Who do you think deserves a bonus at Christmas?

So post rights issue, almost twice as many shares only 500mln added to mkt cap , means an sp of around £2-£2.50 . Think I'll leave it until this settles and the future is more certain especially after today's rns. In total they haven't even raised enough to cover last yrs pre tax loss. Not looking too good IMHO. Made some money here the last few weeks, but now I feel it's a bit too much of a gamble for me. Sure there's money to be made as it'll be quite volatile but think I'll walk with good profits. 7 day parcels? we bloomin need 10 day parcels at the minute. theres just not enough hrs/vans/people to get through them. I strongly suggest if anyone wants a parcel delivering for christmas get it posted NOW. Or use special delivery . Just sending it first class signed for and your gonna be waiting a week or more in some cases. Tracked has a fair chance of getting delivered on time ish. Anything else and its when and if.

Used to have such duties, I was on 9 day fortnight, used to get Fri sat sun Mon off every 4 weeks it was bliss, had a life outside work.....then the cwu ended it in our office.

An extra hr off the working week, in practice, for most just means an extra hr overtime.

You'd just have enough time to sort load and deliver your packets in 7hrs .lol

I don't get where you think you are going to pick these parcels up from? The sheer volume coming through our office, 110 deliveries is staggering. Our office is not designed to take this amount and quite frankly it's a fire hazard in the morning. Absolutely no space.

But you go to more calls with letters than parcels and you can't just filter out the letters for your parcel calls.

Ironically we are TOO busy, we'd be better off having less pkts and not having to spend extra on agency staff which cost about £18/hr for us.

Dynamofc , I'm sure there's gonna be a shed load off sick after Christmas. We'll grind to a halt. We are all on the edge of what is physically possible at thr the moment and if you are finishing your walk you can kiss goodbye to any life outside work. It's home ,tea, bed, repeat. And, yes, we've been flat out since march too.

I'm regularly finishing at six lately and starting at 7am. It really is crazy levels of packets. Mail is pretty heavy too and not many xmas cards yet. 8pm is pretty late to be out, but not unheard of, especially if their walk didn't go out yesterday, delivering 2 day's worth is a nightmare. Maybe they were just finishing someone elses off. You can be sure all the mangers would have gone home hrs ago though.

Not many volunteers to do Sundays at ours, although they are having a manager in on god knows what hr rate.

What about relaxing the rules at Christmas time and opening the pubs up and letting families get together? I've heard that the government are going to give the virus a week off over Christmas as it's been working really hard 24/7 since January, so it should be ok...........or we're heading for lockdown 3.0 in January all so that Christmas can be 'saved' . I just don't get it, are they thick?

Scally, was the address correct? You don't know that. On my day off a few weeks ago the postie that did my delivery left a card for a parcel at number 51 , as it was addressed there and they weren't in. Next day man at number 53 asks me about a parcel that had been attempted to be delivered just like your case. I tracked it to number 51 and sorted it out.

Scally, if you go on royal mail website put the barcode number of the parcel in if you know it and it will tell you what time it had that last scan.

At least, Oli as it was only a tenner it wouldn't have mattered too much had it been nicked off your doorstep or taken out with the bins or tossed over your fence and possibly broken.
