Sorry guys. I'm losing the thread a bit here. NANO doesn't work in the field of compound semiconductors and the article isn't intended to affect court procedings. More highlight a vulnerability in the system. If it results in a crackdown that snares Gilstrap (I very much doubt it will since there's nothing outside the puclic record there and his past cases don't demonstrate bias) the trial would simply be moved to another court. There would be a delay but it's a big leap to think that a corporate entity is running a smear campaign against the judge IMO.

I don't quite agree. A judge's decision on a patent case won't move an index Lobo. Conflicts of interest should never be acceptable regardless of how much integrity any one indvidual has (although having such conflicts and failing to recuse suggests he is not of the very highest possble level in that regard). Gilstrap himself might be able to avoid temptation in how he influences his trials but others might not be so strong. The fact there is a federal law forbidding it suggests there have been problems in the past. This is exactly the kind of thing journalists should bring to light and so I support the WSJ publishing the article. The article won't affect NANO's case at all. I'm sure no conflict the judge has will either. Mainly because I doubt he has any Samsung stock. However, just imagine if he did and NANO lost the case. Even if it was a just result we'd be up in arms.

The way I read it is that the site closes half way through 2022 and so we'll receive half a benefit next year. Reduction in revenue will kick in fully in 2022 (they will stop producing and start decomissioning at the start of the year). There will be an additional £2.5m dicomissioning charge.

It's not hard to recuse oneself or be recused if you have stock in a publicly declared register. If they are held secretely it should be a disbarring.

Thanks Nanonano. Meta lenses are fascinating and look like a huge step forward in many areas. However, interesting that this paper is using small letters and not capitals as in Metalenz - the branded product being produced in partnership with STMicro hopefully using NANO's particles. Looks like there are other players in the field. I wonder how much the problems producing at volume and cost alluded to by this paper is applicable to Metalenz or whether those are the problems being solved by STMicro and NANO.

It does indeed Wobble1. However, as someone who holds VRS shares I can attest it's very difficult to estimate how long it will take for companies to start producing commercially successful products. One also hopes the Tories aren't trying to close the stable door after the horse has bolted regarding China. The 30m is for the new machines in Taiwan. It was already announced so nothing new. It does indeed mean IQE expect strong growth in Asia but over several years. New machines are a long term investment. Upfront it'll be a case of revenue growth but not profit which will no doubt drive negative sentiment.

I can't see any single product focussed company such as an EV manufacturer taking over IQE as the portfolio of products is so diverse. I can see bids coming from the companies in the middle - Lumentum, STMicro, etc if the compound semi market continues to grow in size and importance.

There was definitely new info there. I guess it's debatable how market moving it was based on the fact they had already confirmed that they were progressing to phase 2. Maybe they published the RNA before anyone could leave the presentation lol
