You are right Qd22. IQE are supplying wafers. I thought they might be licensing. An important difference. GF are massive and as we all know 5G mm wave is very early days. For my money this is huge news and the collaboration will be worth a great deal over many years. It's long term though. Given IQE's history I guess people want to see the impact on the bottom line before getting excited. The money should start coming in pretty quickly. As early as next year.

We need the details. Global Foundaries occupy a unique place in the industry. They supply pretty much everybody. If IQE can license down at that level even if they only take a fraction per unit of what they would have had they produced the hardware themselves with the saving on machines and space; and large volumes involved it could be very big news.

Simply because production guidance is the same for next year. The market might start reacting to other data points in which case I'd be wrong but right now I think that's what it's focussing on.

I don't know BeContrarian. COVID's running rampant right now. We appear to have snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. My weekend was cancelled with a few hours notice when lots of my friends reported positive cases on Friday. A significant amount are debilating despite vaccination.

I suppose the worry is that a lot of this is due to increasing energy costs. Could the same force JPL to scale back production or increase production costs? Although, the impact is currently limited to China and Europe.

There's already a contract in place with the Asian customer isn't there? We just don't have any details and are unlikley to get any for a couple of years. Won't necessarily result in any commercial products before you jump in BTB.

Agree that near and medium term it's all about the graphite. Graphene products will inevitably take many years to get to market on a commercial scale. One benefit TGR may get however, is that comapnies like VRS have already done a lot of development work. For example, graphene concrete looks like it's been developed using VRS graphene but the researchers who have produced it state that it has the same properties regardless of the source of the graphene and they don't have an exclusive contract with VRS. If it takes off there will be enough demand to need several suppliers. It could provide a quick route to market for graphene from TGR.
