I'd expect some fairly heavy losses. The important figure I think is net debt rising to let's say £9.9 going into next year. Easily manageable but definitely one step backward rather than forward. I don't mind the ongoing geo political issues with 5G roll outs and supply chain problems. There's nothing IQE can do about any of that. However, I'm getting bored of currency headwinds. I've never seen the company report a currency tailwind. Do they ever publish the forecasting assumption? Starting to think it's something like $1.8 to the £.

Got that wrong. Negative update. IQE being affected by global supply chain problems at last. Offset the hit somewhat by phasing payments for new tools into next year though.

No doubt I'll want one and have been in need of a new TV for ages but will hold out through the screen burn until the court case is decided.

I think they probably do contain NANO tech but are unlikely to sell in large numbers at first.

They're going to make a big splash at CES 2022 apparently. Super high end though. More expensive than the current QLED range.

Fair enough. IQE are a long established global manufacturer with clients all over the world and factories in Taiwan, Singapore and the US but the new guy certainly brings a lot of experience of his own. Especially in China by the sound of it. Nothing to do with memebership or otherwise of the EU.

The company faced no barriers to it's global development while inside EU and leaving has brought no benefits? Being outside simply makes it more difficult to work with partners inside the block. That said, IQE is still involved in several EU development projects.

While I don't think it's a concrete indicator in any way of IQE's future performance in any way I found the following coincidence interesting this morning. IQE announce a new CEO who will relocate to Wales on the same day the head of the CBI will annouce The Centre for Thriving Regions. He'll give a speech criticising the geographical effect the free market has had on the UK since the 80s stating that companies should base their head offices in the regions not London and specifically pointing to the semi conductor industry in south Wales.

£200k signing on share issue is small. So far so good on that front. Of course if he transforms the company for the better then he'll deserve decent remunertion. I don't think GF will buy us out but who knows. If they see compound semis as the future for chips across the board there isn't a better way to get in on the act.

Well, we got one at last. What do you all think? I'm sure there will be negatives in there somewhere (maybe lack of experience as CEO?) but on the surface it looks like a good appointment. GF are a massively successfull business at the heart of the global semiconductor industry. Mr Lemos's knowledge and network must be huge. There's even a bit of spice in there for those who think a bid from GF is incomming.

Bozo is no doubt intent of levelling down. Poor old Red Wall thralls. Hopefully VRS graphene will find it's way into plenty of the concrete that still needs pouring.

Oh dear BTB. Very simple isn't it. Three major vaccines have different levels of efficacy, some people have only 1 dose which reduces it, efficacy wanes over time, non-adult vaccicnation rates are lower leaving the disease a space to operate and delta variant is better at infecting than previous variants. Despite all that serious infections and deaths are down. So vaccination is doing very well. No need for mumbo jumbo.

We don't know the cost of either or other metrics. They are different technologies addressing the same end markets. Can't say much more at the moment. Just making the point that there is competition out there.

Agree with nearly all of that Nanonano but it's a fast moving field and not all my information matches yours. InGaAs are the only alternative to cover similar functionality in sensors. However, IQE have a low cost mass market wafer solution now that works in the same wavelengths as those being touted by NANO. There's definitely competition out there at a competitive price point. InGaAs won't do the camera stuff though.

Also, I've never been convinced by the camera and AI approach to self driving. Probably because it's being championed by the cowboy at Tesla. I read an article recently though about a small company, can't recall who, that had proven 100% accuracy at depth perception using cameras at high refresh rate and greater range than LIDAR. Not sure what the tech behind it was.
