Agree with nearly all of that Nanonano but it's a fast moving field and not all my information matches yours. InGaAs are the only alternative to cover similar functionality in sensors. However, IQE have a low cost mass market wafer solution now that works in the same wavelengths as those being touted by NANO. There's definitely competition out there at a competitive price point. InGaAs won't do the camera stuff though.
Also, I've never been convinced by the camera and AI approach to self driving. Probably because it's being championed by the cowboy at Tesla. I read an article recently though about a small company, can't recall who, that had proven 100% accuracy at depth perception using cameras at high refresh rate and greater range than LIDAR. Not sure what the tech behind it was.
