I think it would be fair to factor in some caution, one thing the markets hate is uncertainty, if they do get tied up in the shenanigans of an extended, or even a leisurely, competition approval process Carlsberg could easily twist RF's arm up behind his back. Not saying it would happen but wise to bear it in mind all the same eh ?

Indeed, there was also that rather disturbing piece in the rns "are satisfied that the group has sufficient liquidity", given a possible delay if Camra gain traction, which they probably will not ,but it is not impossible either, liquidity could be rather stretched if takings are lower than hoped for.

Without wishing to be too negative I would think now they have been cut there is no hurry to reinstate, and when I say reinstate I do not mean paying the same generous divi they did before but any divi.
So my guess is nothing for a couple of years and then a modest payment, but this is based purely on gut feeling, hopefully we will be given some guidance on this by the board when things look a little clearer in a few months time ?

But my query is your short term memory, July 3 you say one thing, today you say quite another on exactly the same subject, this is the issue.
That sounds like ramping to me, all I do is politely point out that everything in the garden is not necessarily rosey and you take that personally.

Today you pass off the mark down in asset value on "recent results....its covid related"
Yet on July 3 you posted "highly undervalued considering their covid stocks have boomed-when the next results are out for them without doubt there will be a rerating"
And today you say; "the recent results ....it's covid related"
I repeat it in case your short term memory really is an issue.
Are you for real or do you have a genuine problem with your short term memory, I am sure your readers are eager to know, please advise us all urgently !

Do you have no sympathy for the people who may have been induced by your posts to invest cash in this company and lost money ?
I admit there was a rerating after the sharp asset value markdown but it was not of the boom variety you pronounced was it ?
Are you a MM or perhaps an employee at MERC, if so should you not declare your interest ?
As I have pointed out before this stock is like a lobster pot, easy to get into but tricky to get out of.
Again I wish you good luck in your investments going forward, I also wish you good luck in addressing your short term memory issues. As I am sure will people who may have taken your advice/observations seriously & are the poorer for it.

Well I certainly struck a chord with you !
I have no intention of using the amount of space you did but a couple of points if I may ;

1) I did NOT say Northern VCT's were offered at a 40% discount but not to the PI's, what I said was the (merc) shares issued to raise money to buy Northern were offered at a 40% discount to market price and were not offered to PI's. That is a fact, check it out, it is also allowable on AIM but is never appreciated by PI's, many AIM companies try to include their PI's in these placings.

2) Woodford had been a highly successful manager of income trusts, his foray into microcaps was only started in a serious fashion after he left Invesco. His early success was built on some good calls, such as holding no banks in 2008 & also on picking stocks which a lot of fund managers were disposing of, did not wish to own, tobacco stocks and door to door money lenders for instance.
His toxicity was perhaps caused by putting nascent start ups into an open end fund rather than keeping them all in a closed end fund. ? This was compounded when he sought quotes for these unquoted co's (which trade, if at all, very rarely) on the Guernsey stock exchange apparently to reduce the % of non quoteds in the open ended fund as the liquid stocks in it were being sold to pay for redemptions.

On June 25 "inthegame" posted on this board that their cash was "peanuts" at £290,000.
Not sure where that figure came from but if accurate the word peanuts in this context is sensible, and we are now a further 4 weeks forward in the cash flow analysis. which has to be negative imho.
Nevertheless Chinesewhisper describes me as a deramper so perhaps he has some more bullish information which he may wish to share with us ?

I hardly think that pointing out that a share can now be bought is deramping, I thought it was being helpful.....

I do think this is useful and insightful input, thanks for posting.
It might calm the bulls who try so hard to ignore the fact we have effectively lost our breweries and are left with what appears to be a string of rather fully valued & often sub par pubs.

You make sound points but I feel you should also consider their recent closeness with Woodford & Barnett even down to sharing the same Chair as Woodford Patient Capital and the BoD took their time in realising this could be a toxic mix before finally installing a new Chair.
Remember too the issue of new shares to take on Northern VCT's which were offered at a 40% discount bus PI's were excluded, just the "groovy gang" were allowed to take those.
So whereas the BoD might be smart, but perhaps in some ways a tad too smart ?
A lot of people on this board thought that because MERC had a small holding in some very small, nascent companies, that they would get rich quick.
The recent results seem to have disabused these bullish users of twitter and they have moved on to different interests, apparently.
