I notice we briefly breached 80p today, which sticks in my mind as that was what supercharged ramper kept telling us to target, until the spurious ramper turned into a pump n dump merchant by selling at just under 50p.
Of course as we were all a "step or two behind" him he is probably thinking that our memories are as senilely demented as his, oddly enough a couple of his possible aliases have also gone super quiet these past few days.

That was indeed what we concluded after the relevant announcement, so for RF to suggest that all in the (marston's beer) garden is rosy could be viewed as a little disingenuous ?
If so this will come back to haunt him, but it could also indicate the type of pressure that he is under, neither options are ideal, to be fair.

Hard to think of a UK sector which has the wind in its sails currently as much as supermarkets & TSCO is the clear leader in that place, my suspicion re the price having been slow to start reacting (but now seemingly speeding up) has more to do with SD confusion than anything else, certainly the comments/queries on this board imply that & perhaps institutional investors want to see the dust settle first ? Most of them seem scared of their own shadow at the moment & valuations compared to index could be impaired by a large special divi and price revision, could be easier for them to wait & buy xd, doesn't really make sense but little does these days.

A bit light on frauleins in Norway then ?

A good point you raise there, click & collect is what we use for a lot of items and it is very convenient as slots are very much more available, & cheaper generally than deliveries. It is also, surely, much more convenient for the stores too ?
Where we live Sainsburys are very behind in click & collect, Tesco & Asda seem very busy with theirs, which with tighter social distancing in stores should make C&C more popular, just my observations.

Instead he is now the gold guru and will probably advise us that a sovereign is worth a "lunch for two" in the Savoy (as the real gold guru did), but sadly there was no EV charging points in their garage & I suspect lunches there are difficult to price in lockdown ?

A while ago he remarked he was soooo busy in January as he and his wife were in conference deciding which stocks to take a profit on to use the £12,300 annual cgt allowances , the fact that he thought of his old fans at Mars during conference season leads me to believe he might have a few losses to c/f ?

We are clearly singing from the same hymn sheet here, I totally accept what you say about the 4 for 1 was made to make it more attractive to us private punters but for the life of me I can not see why dividing the price, & eps, by 4 makes some PI's buy it enthusiastically, & pay more than they had to for it ?
Nevertheless we are, at present anyway, sitting in a sweet spot, & it will be fascinating to see what effect lockdown(s), consolidation of Alliance into Interactive Investors platform, plus bad press for HL, has done to Jarvis customer numbers and volumes, many Alliance customers hated the move to II, according to some forums anyway.

Clearly not a bid as the family have too many shares !
But there is persistent buying, clearly someone seems to be in love with it.

An impressive performance over the holiday period, this type of movement in other shares would raise suspicions of a possible predator building a stake, but hardly realistic in this company as the family own so much of it.
Any thoughts anyone ?

I fear that you are right, Brains has not been universally accepted as a great deal for Marstons.
Clearly being written up in Tempus & the Sunday Telegraph does not have the same effect that it used to have.

This year will quite possibly be a testing one, at times, for Marstons holders, but we do have the satisfaction of knowing that one person being tested harder than us on a bad day is Mr Findlay, stretched to almost breaking point I guess into upgrading his estate as cost efficiently & as speedily as he can !
We must all wish he succeeds.

Do note that Amati VCT do hold 8.32% but earlier this week their holding was 11.74% so they did not participate in the placing & may indeed have sold some.
Just so you know, I am not a direct holder in Block but I do hold Amati, if they are allowing their holding to reduce that may not be a great signal.
They are very canny investors, just thought this might help.
