You can offset any losses made with other shares that failed (CTAG springs to mind) against tax due. The fact that the share certificates are worthless must be verified I believe.

Dmitry: Assuming you're married - you can open another ISA for Mrs D thereby sheltering £20K more from tax. Also. kids below the age of 18 can open a Junior ISA with an allowance of about £4000 but they can't liquidate the ISA until they're 18.

Actually there must be some whose resolution to sell at 20p was tested today. They would be sitting on huge paper profits that proved to be just too much to bear.
If you invested at 0.5p you have a nice little 40 bagger at 20p so why not sell some.
And the MM/stop loss crowd but it ain't all bad (even if you're the guy who sold at 14p!!)

Look back at recent RNS (yesterday was one). Shareholders holding 1% or more of the Company’s shares are required to declare on form 8.3 that they hold such an amount (27 million shares + roughly) by next Tuesday which is 10 days after the Sale announcement.
Something like that. Needless to say it doesn’t affect me unfortunately. Imagine the numbers those boys are seeing today!! Sorry - and girls. Hope that helps anyway.

Not familiar with this protocol so just looking for some guidance. Thanks in advance.
So far we've had 2 RNSs from shareholders owning eyewatering numbers of shares (mind you - if they purchased them at 0.3p or similar it's "only" around £100K) which total 1% of the total shares issued or more.
My question is - Does everyone who owns more than 1% of shares issued have to declare on this form 8.3, including Directors who own truly eyewatering numbers?
IE Can we expect a flurry of RNS announcements over the next days/weeks?

Only way with HL (and others- Barclays, HSBC etc) to sell shares that YOU own is if YOU authorise the sale. Shares will be held in a nominee account which doesn't trade without your knowledge. I suggest you consider a broker who abides by this discipline and I would certainly phone your broker and discuss…..
