Looks as though Wishbone and Antipa are fighting over an old discarded Carawine licence to the north of Telfer.

E45/7169 or E45/7170 depending on which company applied.

It’s a cold misty morning in Stirling, but the swallows are still here.

There may be no news lately but there’s still loads about Telfer to be cheerful about from the quarterlies.

Greatland are still finding their feet transitioning from a tiddler like OMI to a mid cap miner.

Telfer is recovering fast from a decade of under achievement by Newcrest. Everything needed sorting out, you’ve seen how much Newmont spent on the plant and now Ggp are spending loads capex on lifting the tailings dam to allow production into 2029.

Ggp are now concentrating on lifting Telfer mine life , initially to augment Havieron ore in the other train but ultimately to increase it to 10-20 years or 2045 licence renewal date.

240,000m of drilling at Telfer this year and we are nearly a quarter the way through it already that’s 60,000m already with 8 rigs.

( by the way OMI have one rig)

Also 20,000m of drilling on other licences, that should be about 5,000m completed this quarter. I haven’t spotted where yet they were full pelt on Bigtree. Others to be drilled EG, Chilly, Atlantis, Basel and Triangle south.

Keep your chin up and be patient, loads of money accruing while you wait. 18,000oz we’re not sold last quarter going straight into coffers.

It’s no good comparing the size of anomalies what matters is the EM conductors. It’s these they are targeting.

If this was Havieron the EM conductors would be the sulphide crescent, this is where the money is if they are mineralised. The rest could be weak anomaly.

Structural geology is a better tool for finding gold accumulations, ie structural faults and tectonic movements will bring in diorites which are where gold accumulations cluster.

These tectonic movements are more prevalent on edges of cratons where Juno is near.

The risk with targeting EM conductors a large percentage of these do not give off the right signals for instance at Ggp’s Atlantis they identified 19 conductors and only 2 had the right signals, they also drilled numerous conductors on Pearl in Scallywag and didn’t find the conductors to be mineralised.

Geo however are targeting these so Callum must be confident.

Rio are after the Banded Iron formation BIF the main source of iron ore in the Pilbara.

This BIF formation may intrude into the new Geo application, it looks like it but I’m not certain of it yet.

Rio are not gold miners

Winu is a copper supergene and hypergene anomaly where gold comes out of the copper concentrate at the processors as a credit. These credits are used to pay the processors.

I would suggest you research it I already have done.

Rio’s main business is iron ore, aluminium and have branched out into copper and lithium, they are not primarily gold miners.

According to Landtracker maps that show all the licences in Australia, Geo have 3 licences including Juno and a new application to the north of these containing 54 blocks.

Rio have applied for a long licence containing 131 blocks, stretching NW to SE. On the SE end it borders Geo new application and a bit of their licence.

I would suspect they’re after lithium deposits, they are not gold miners.

Telfer is classed as a wet mine, Havieron is dry it’s below the aquifers.

The issue is how to maintain Havieron as a dry mine.

At Carrapateena the bulk caving broke the surface, Havieron mine will not break the surface. The Feasibility Study will tell us how they will not breach the surface, allowing the aquifers to drain in to the mine would be a nightmare scenario.

Telfer on the other hand is in the water table, pumps have to keep going. At the end of its life the open pits are designed to fill up to a certain designed height, not right to the top but substantial.

The Decline isn’t on the critical path to get production going.

You can’t keep going down without adequate ventilation. Full stop

They are not likely to build a conveyor and underground crusher for the top ore that’s economical madness it will be 1000m down.

There are 3 aquifers , the top one discharges into the middle aquifer to the west of Havieron probably around the Teach salt marshes.

The lower aquifer is contained it’s not free flowing it seeps there is a point way to the east where water does enter it. It’s definitely not an issue. What is an issue is building the evaporation ponds they are enormous if needed. They are not likely to build these during the heat January to March.

The Stirling meeting is next Monday night from 6pm at the Birds and bees pub in north Stirling . Easter Cornton road, Stirling FK9 5PB.

It’s amazing what you find when you look at that Quarterly result in more detail there’s loads of positives .

Just a snippet from the West Dome pit stage 2, now we know the bottom of that pit was flooded by the cyclone and works on it were deferred while they altered the pumping regime. This was not a small job, these pipes are 600mm diameter from the WDD. They drilled the base of this pit to include in the upcoming MRE probably March. These drill results for an open pit look rather good 8m @12g/t and 8m @ 5g/t plus numerous . These results will mean the base of the pit can be deepened by over 50m. To do this the benching around it will have to be moved back from it. This has resulted in a pit shell of Aus$4500 to be used up from $3450 resulting in the Southern extension becoming viable.

This is not chasing weaker ores there are pockets of extremely good grades , resulting in a mine life of multiple years.

There are loads of items I’ve spotted all over the mine area.

It’s been 3 years since I last made the trip up to Scotland, theres’ a journey we’ve been on since then. 🙂

Earlier in the year Brett Davis did a talk on structural geology. Within it he talked about the structural diorites.

Researching diorites is very interesting in what the ancient world used it for.

At Havieron Brett said there upto 10 diorite intrusions at Havieron, gold accumulates in and around diorites.

At Ernest Giles there is banded iron greenstone this is what AI says about it:-

“Gold accumulation in diorites hosted by Archean greenstone belts is a significant geological phenomenon often associated with large, economically important gold deposits. Diorite intrusions within greenstone belts can serve as structural and chemical traps for gold mineralization, frequently showing complex relationships with the surrounding volcanic and sedimentary rocks, structural deformation, and hydrothermal fluid flow.

Dreadnought are hitting high grade gold in ironstone near the Ggp Yennarie licences.

It’s so complex at Havieron they haven’t announced where the diorites are yet, I think they are waiting for that PHD thesis. We did have one intercept of 0.3m at 609g/t around 700m depth of ore on the north side.

They could follow these diorites back to the source.

Concerning your remark “ just look at where it is on the map”

The map I’m looking at I can see Jundee to the west of Ernest Giles and Gruyère to the south and many others in between. Many of these are company makers in their own right.

I came here because of EG, the geology is very exciting. The other mines have mineralisation from surface, the reason for not finding anything at EG it’s under 2-300m of cover. There’s a main access road to the SE of it.

The opportunities to make this a carbon neutral mine are immense.

It’s so big that putting our Goliath target in the centre would be like a pin prick. A find at EG is going to take some finding but if they do hit big it will be a tremendous benefit to the company. It won’t cost billions like you have mentioned but once it starts producing it will be self supporting.

The environmental survey didn’t pick up any evidence of night Parrots between Havieron and Telfer but there was evidence of Bilbys.

They had to divert the road away from a burrow.

The NE corner of the Havieron licence is a no go area due to the Bilby population.

There is also some shrimp like creature that lives in subterranean conditions at Telfer, too salty at Havieron.

Rio have reduced the Winu acreage due to heritage issues and rare night parrot habitat.

Will Winu ever get built?

They wouldn’t drill a bullseye target without finding electrical conductors .

Look at Geo that’s what they’re targeting.

You wouldn’t target a copper target at depth there would be no magnetic signature.

Greatland have Atlantis there are 19 targets there and they’ve narrowed it down to 4 electrical conductors with only one strong target.

You are both incorrect they are targeting 2 small conductors, the magnetic signatures could be pyrites.

You misunderstood my point.

Reducing cut off grades brings more ore in play but it increases waste and dilution into the mix.

0.1 cut off from surface are viable but margins are lower.

What I was referring to was increasing the pit shell cut off value. As can be seen from the March and June quarters the West Dome pit has had an increase, this doesn’t mean the grades reduce in fact they’re increasing the lower down they go into the MVR reef.

Because the shell pit cut off value has increased it will bring pits 10 &11 into the mine plan.

Minyari is using 0.1g/t cut offs while Havieron lowest is 0.2g/t
