We’ve been told the decline is now halfway round the third spiral.
The next vent side access is a few hundred metres further on, so there will be less ancillary works reported in the next report.
Great photo on twitter of the Decline yesterday, it looks too small for the main decline could be the vent access.
The shape has a more square look , this looks like the country rock is very stable.
It looks dry so they haven’t reached the middle or lower aquifer yet.
There’s no sign of any ventilation ducting, so there must be some through ventilation. For that to happen compressed air must be piped down from somewhere to flow back out, there’s none evident in that photo.
In the photo at the top the services look as they’re going upwards through a drill hole maybe to surface.
Diesel fumes in an enclosed space are heavy and linger, I would have expected to see some sort of extract ducting

Sprott are assuming 3 areas of SLOS operations
Crescent
Northern Breccia pods
Eastern Breccia pods

There assumptions go wrong when you look at depths of all 3 of these operations.

The mining plans and the 3D graphic show a production Decline from top of ore to c1,050m
With a gradient of 1:7
Decline length of 7,500m plus ancillaries

The high grade crescent and EB are now down to 1400m depth of ore.
That’s 10,000m approx

At 6m per day as Sprott suggests 3.5 years to get to the 1000m level and over 5 years to get to the lower level.
This throws Sprotts assumptions all over the place, they just don’t make sense.

A shaft could be installed to the lower levels but you would still need a decline to feed it.
A SLOS plan in 2 phases fits more in line with the Decline progress, ie first phase horizontal from the top 3-400m and then second phase to progress vertically downwards
This would be trucked 3mt per annum for 20 years.

A third phase as NCM suggest would be a SLC operation under the overhang of the Dyke which will become available when the Decline reaches 4-500m depth.
At this point a hoist is required as the tonnage would exceed the 3mt limit.
I don’t believe Sprott have really planned this out very well

Yes the $643 AISC includes the copper It’s $1080 without.
The First Ore coming out will be very high grades, they will be Stella :))

I asked Shaun last summer about Sprotts 9m pa and he didn’t know how they got to it either :))

That Sprott note has baffled the hell out of me :))
At 6m per day the end of the exploration decline would be 14th Sept not March
The vent accesses are at 11m per day expected completion 8th May
I would expect the Decline to accelerate from the 8th May bringing forward the Sept date.
Overall I would say we should reach the point where we have approvals to as end of July completion.

As for the 9mt pa who are they talking to that’s never been in any plans.
It’s only possible with a hoist maybe 5 years away and definitely won’t start before free cash flow

The $643 AISC is the costs involved getting the ore to the ROM stock pile.
The tolling charge is then added +10%
NCM $743 AISC would I believe include the Tolling charge.
I’m not sure about Zoros 12% dilution.
We’ve been told the Tolling charge +10% is the best deal that GH came away with and SD was happy with it.

Looking at it from another direction on trucking costs
3mt
130 ton per road train
$1,000 per load cost (I’m guessing) = $20m

In the 1990s I was paying c$200 for 30ton loads on an articulated wagon so I’ve prorated that figure for a guess likely to be lot higher.
So total costs somewhere between $20-$30m

They’ve been having issues with wet weather causing loss of production, as they truck must of their supplies to the mine and the mill as I believe they’ve no airstrip.
Notice the 2.6mt per year, start getting higher than that the number of truck movements become prohibitive and uneconomical over time.
Havieron is going to face this situation.
If we do get to 10mt per year then a railhead or conveyor would be more suitable. The other option is ball mills at Havieron but then you’re looking at floatation as well so what would be the point of Telfer.
Most obvious choice would be a conveyor.
3mt with an orebody maybe 1.5bn-2bn is going to take a very long time.
The tonnage needs to increase at some point but when cash flows dictate

My calcs average out the ore body taking in the high and low grades, and take in SLOS and bulk caving.
Which is why I said the new pods in the weak zones are upping the averages.
Only referring to gold not eq.
If you look at Shaun’s favourite graphic of the ounce per metre you can roughly work out what they’re averages are, I think it’s somewhere between 0.65 and 0.7 at the moment but that’s not on up to date drilling and doesn’t take in the whole orebody.

My own thoughts on a revised mining plan would be in phases and phase 1 would be to get 3mt out of the top 300m.
Rather than following the high grade sulphides downwards leave that for phase 2.
It would be cheaper to remove from the higher levels especially with the trucking times.
If they want more than 3mt out then put a shaft down that may get you 10m out per year.
But walking before we can run , truck it out to get to free cash flow and keep paying for the Decline downwards and then put a deep hoist in.

Remember 3mt from Havieron high grade ore nearly equals Cadia gold output if you take in the recovery factors and that’s on 35mt at Cadia.
We don’t need to fill a mill with millions of tons to get the same revenues.

From what I can make out and told its a Phd subject the diorites are low down in the ore body maybe the EB and they’ve been bombarded with hot fluids from the numerous intrusions which have brought high nickel and chrome into the diorites.
The chrome could be in the micas.
I’ve never seen any evidence of diorites but we’ve been told they’re there. I personally think the high nickel could be where the copper levels are lower in those high grade pods.
Chrome could indicate some PGE’s.
Modification of Telfer looks odds on to cope with all these additional minerals.
The 2g/t average of gold maybe overshadowed by the credits if the high grade pods are extensive

Can I ask you a question to get your opinion.
Been chatting about Callum’s mention of chrome and high nickel content.
Do you think they are linked with the diorites?

An average of the top ovoid of 900m depth of 0.75g/t would give 10.3moz
A 1g/t would give 13.75moz
This is for the whole ovoid with an area less the Dyke.
We are somewhere between those 2.

For all the shorters and shysters (raspberries)

My assumptions of the whole top ovoid having an average grade of 0.75g/t looks seriously conservative and so to does Greatland’s around 0.68 but this is a good 12 months behind.

Any other share would be going crazy with those 2 high grade drilling results.
But this is Greatland I forgot
26m @ 4g/t is absolutely tremendous.
Close to the edge of the SW boundary of the 0.5g/t zone.
It’s replacing weak grade crackle breccia with a high grade pod in between the NW pod and the Northern breccia.
It’s at a level of 380m from top of ore.

The whole scope of this ore body has changed completely from the PFS, there’s bound to be a change to the planning of the mine, there’s too many high grade pods now to be ignored

On twitter today there’s a photo of one of the drilling rigs
DDH1 use Evolution 3000 or a Sandvik DE880
Using the smaller core size NRQ which they use in the lower depths they can get to a maximum lengths of 3,200 and 3,300m.
That’s around a vertical max of 2,700m.

The main ore body seems to be bottoming out and 1,820m below surface vertically.
This is mainly due to the max drill lengths of the current rigs.
These new rigs could add 600m vertically below the current levels, especially in the SE crescent which they are targeting from now.
The rest of the ore body is more likely to be drilled from fan drilling when the decline reaches the ore body
