It's about psychology as well. Don't know why people get scared of shorters think they are more scared of the longs hence the appearance of the one or two well known shorters on this board when the share is rising or there has been positive news to remind people that he/they are short. Shorters also have more to lose as their losses potentially can be unlimited. Well there's more of us who are long, probably 98% to 1%. I do not know much at all about shorting as I've never done it and will not for ethical reasons. But I would think they either sell in one go or drip feed for a short period to keep the share price back? If that's the case once they have sold they have no further effect on the share price and it's only the psychological effect they can hope to benefit from.

That's why I shared those links to shorting performance earlier and how most shorters fail to do well financially from it and some of the hedge funds like Lansdowne have stopped or cut it back significantly. If we know this then it can and should change our psychology - that it is a weak strategy that is bound to fail in the light of the promising news we are expecting from Nova.

Most shorting attacks are undertaken companies in financial trouble like Intu or those who made bad bad financial decisions like Premier Oil with its purchase deal ( only from what I've read). Shorting is only really successful when the share is in a downward trend hence why most shorters had closed their shorts in the lower 200s. Nova is not one of those companies it is not in trouble - actually the opposite having cleared all its debts, monthly sales in millions, working closely with the government and at the forefront of innovation with trials being undertaken with care homes and a hospital. Also the share price is now in an upward trend confirmed by the charts which have turned bullish. Just some of the positives so in terms of psychology we should be winning that battle over the small percentage of shorters.

I agree that Voleon have made a bad call shorting this company.

If you Google search hedge funds you will see that many have nursed losses and underperformance this year.

If the fundamentals are strong it will overcome any shorting attack.

Generally over long periods of time hedge funds have not outperfmed the S &P 500 - the recent news from Landsdiwn etc was that they were due to close their shorting funds - I recall there was something like this recently.

This was one of the concerns of the market holding the share price back. Now with Teams and what looks like a permanent shift to more WFH I think the market will start to re-rate this stock as it starts to see a longer term growth story. Markets can be a bit slow sometimes in re-rating stocks as it follows the herd mentality but the market is not 100% efficient or at least all the time which gives stockpickers a chance to pick up shares at good prices on a lobger term view.

This is not including any bolt on acquisitions in future - I don't think the company needs to make any yet as there is plenty of organic growth to come.

Yeah it's one that I am now aiming to tuck away for at least 6 months and try to avoid paying attention to daily share price movements. The shares should be higher by then as you say.

Some of these gold shares you do get a delayed reaction to good news.

Ok maybe not achieved the best price for it but it was a liability that requires more investment as well and they don't have to deal with that now.

Very good news it was a drain on profits and they have also retained net smelter royalty on future production.

Zoom has security weaknesses and patient confidentiality is paramount.

This would be an interesting area for Loop to get into. Although the medical profession may be using specialist medical apps for this at the moment.

There may still be ups and downs often there is with a tip. But it's good to know that a respected IC investment journalist thinks the same way as us and we're not mad!

I've been here since March average of 32ish and you come along just a few days ago and buy at those levels that's why I think you are a good trader.

With trading you win some and you lose some - requires more effort and time so I prefer to be an investor for long term in most of my shares.

If Nolupus and Scoredagainsteps ever put on some successful trading classes I think I'd come to learn how they both do it!

FDA approval should just be a rubber stamping I would have thought considering the extensive use of Polx product?

I'm not the best with timing either. I'm usually better in selecting good stocks but don't always achieve the best price on a sale or purchase - still lots to learn.

If it's any consolation halfbutt - at least you're in. I've had situations where I've been watching a share, the price increases then it retreats and I'm thinking it's going to fall back more for it to increase again. At that stage I've either not bought any at all or I've paid a lot more for it!

Nowadays I'm content if I feel I've paid a fair price. The consolation is that with good stock selection the " high price" that you thought you paid is surpassed soon or later. I've had that on a few of my shares where I've bought at the high for the share to retreat 30-40 % and then within a few weeks and in another case a couple of months double bag from those lows.

I suppose what I'm saying is that if you have bought then you're in and more likely to stay in now because you are showing a loss on paper. Otherwise, you may have just kept watching it and not bought any. LTHs haven't bought in for the 100 % gain on this one.
