things might hold up pretty well through all this as you mentioned SJ. At least Q1 was decent by all accounts as good momentum carried on from last year.

at present pathetic levels of testing it won't even take up the capacity of one of these super big testing centres. In fact it will barely take up half of one at current rates. The 3 big centres plus NHS/PHE labs has/will have the capacity to do well over 100k tests a day between them. Heaven knows where Ygen fits in?
Lyn, I think you need to tap up NCYT/others for more work.

morg; you don't think they intend to test the whole country do you? They won't get near 100k a day, not for any length of time anyway.Between Milton Keynes and Alderley park/Glasgow and their own PHE/NHS labs they can cope no probs I believe. I hope I am wrong and Ygen do get a good slice of the action. We will soon find out, hopefully.

andym, we're not even sure we are doing any testing as of yesterday. The big test centres can easily cope with all the testing, so maybe won't need anyone else. I find it hard to believe that we have not been told a thing yet at this late stage.

the more I hear on the testing front the less convinced I am of Ygen doing any for the NHS. They seem to be well covered with the 3 big stations that can do tens of thousands of tests each a day. I know they keep saying 100k tests a day blah blah, but they will never do that many. or anywhere near imo. There is a big difference between having 100k capacity and actually carrying out that number.
I think in the early days when there was panic in govt, all and sundry with a Bunsen burner in a shed were probably asked for capacity. Now they have these 3 big testing centres (and others) the likes of Ygen are surplus imo.
It's been a month or more now since Ygen have been on standby and started to got their labs ready, I think if we were in the mix we would/should know by now.
All the govt do is drop the big names out like Glaxo/Astra Zeneca/Roche etc etc. Lyn needs to tell them if we haven't had confirmation of work by Sunday night, then we open up the labs for someone else..

all we need is numbers/figures!

the 'big two are steady' ? Well .vip is down 32k+ and .work is down 4k+ ….this year, not quite what I would call steady.

watching the interview I just got the impression that Ncyt/NHS work didn't seem that important financially. Very happy and all that, but just seemed a bit flat as if it's no big deal. Just waiting for the NHS work to kick off now, hopefully very soon too.
I think if we were doing a lot for NCYT or NHS financially then he would have to relay it, so far it's no big deal it seems and nowt material to report. so for me they are not supplying the 4/8m month, just maybe any overspill Ncyt can't deal with. Could easily change very quickly though.

I think it would be the perfect time to do it after new nipt launch. Sounds like they are all ready and can't wait to get started in the USA in a bigger way. Would it really hike the sp up to those sorts of figures on the Nasdaq? Surely £500k would be well worth it?

listening to an interview with the ceo of Ygen today it seems like they have more capacity for Ncyt work if needed. He also says there are other companies that they can work/partner with. If I was Ncyt Ceo I would make sure to use that extra capacity asap before it goes to someone else.
Ygen are very good at what they do rgds quality/delivery etc, and NCYT would go a long way to find someone any better. I say this as a long time holder of Ygen so I know they are sound.
From my point of view, it would be a shame to lose lab/expertise capacity to another outfit, as I would prefer NCYT product, as it's the best out there.

Florida; Not too sure if we have the expertise/equipment for the AVCT product. But yes, if we do, then why not. There are a few more out there too we could approach as well. In any case the last think we should do is hang around for those incompetent govt nobheads to mess us around.

not many bosses will lead their chins with forecast/predictions if they can get away with it. But yes, mushrooms spring to mind as is very often the case.
Regards the NHS testing.It would not surprise me in the slightest if Ygen are still hanging around in a month's time kicking their heels. I would get in touch with whoever in govt/NHS dealing with it, that if they have not committed very soon we will open up the labs for more covid/NCYT/other work .

Lyn should be getting the nod very shortly then? Govt still reckon they will test 100k by end of April, and our labs still know feck all about it... ha ha! Says new labs coming onstream..

'Big increase'
Mr Raab, who was standing in for Prime Minister Boris Johnson, said the government had testing capacity of 40,000 a day.

Based on that, and the fact that new laboratories were coming on stream, the government would meet its testing target, although it would need a "big increase" in the next week, he told MPs.

looks like the NHS dragging their feet again as it sounds like we are ready for them. Just needs someone to wake up at the govt end. When you look at the total balls up they've made of the PPE then is it any wonder our lab is standing around waiting.
Lyn really gets excited with the prospect of hitting the USA imo. He still seems very low key with the covid/NCYT stuff and makes a bigger deal out of core stuff, and rightly so too.
