If it's needless to say then why say it? The downside is that the company goes belly up & some of us lose the last 20% of our initial investment. The upside is the potential for a bit of profit in 2 or 3 years time. What's important is the likelihood of those 2 outcomes.

I think it may well be that MATD as an oil exploration set-up has no intention of going into the production phase. They might sell out lock stock & barrels before any oil leaves the ground.

If the future is a positive & assured as some here would have us believe why is the SP languishing at 2.8p?

Hawkspear - yes that's one strategy & I have averaged down here before but there comes a time when you don't or can't commit more money to a company, particularly if you lose confidence in its management.

What has changed is that the company halved it's mkt cap overnight for no very good reason.

Bit clueless here - but in the case that Parkers take over at £8 with no offer of shares etc. this would be a forced disposal for cash. Is there any scope for relaxation of the (UK) Capital Gains Tax in these circumstances? Normally disposals could be made over a number of years to lessen the tax burden.
