Its all algo programs but some could be buyers or sellers running algos as well as shorters. Even retail punters acan buy and run algo programs these days.. good luck with that one though.

I had always thought specifically with Rockhopper the aim was to make sure when news comes out that the rise starts from the lowest possible base. I would expect one day we will open 100% up then rise through out the day. Better for buyers if we rise from 14p than from 21p

I know its not helping here but Publicis Groupe over on the US listing are at $28.49 just 76cents off their all time high share price being $29.25.

I think Microsoft is the only one on that list worth buying, I bought Netflix at 200 after its fall from grace, it fell to 166 at one point I think. The commentary at that time was all doom and gloom, to much competition from big players, too expensive, too much spend, no viable ad model, not profit making etc etc. I sold too early but yesterday it was trading at 711

I like AMD and have held that and Nvidia but in all honesty missed most of the parabolic returns there.

The stories printed in the media are often supplied by financial institutions most of whom are short oil right now. Largest net short position in several years.

Just a thought but perhaps Saudi are making noises re increased production ahead of a ME war which will see very high oil prices, to which they would happily supply as much as they could at say $100 bbl

The thing with this idea that Saudi could just 'open the taps' is it will damage the reservoirs, so whilst they could increase some, a large increase is very very unlikely.

I think it was actually the GM win which led to the 1m director buy which led to the rise up to 66.6p which was then heavily sold into by a few funds namely Capital Research Mngmt, Templeton Global and Fidelity asst Mngmt.

I'm not sure who was buying though.

Third Avenue showing 32,614,660 shares on Fintel dated July. They are also showing Third Avenue series value trust at 3,202,239.

Bloomberg showed Third Avenue at 32,372,070 in May 2024

34,882,821 in August 2024

and 35,816,899 in Sept 2024

Not sure about the 3,202,239 in the Third Ave value trust as it doesn't get a mention.

On Morningstar they are showing Third Avenue Management LLC as 68,431,559 which I think is likely wrong as it double counts 32,614,660 in both Third Ave Instl and Third Ave Equity funds. Interestingly it does show they increased by 1,868,156 reported 31st August
