They could but thats not the main aim. Those shorts would have no doubt sold the millions of shares at around £15. The aim now is to keep the stock low while they close. It doesn't matter if they don't make money buying and selling daily in the £7 range to hold the price down.

Total stock on loan at the end of August was over 7% I know what short tracker shows only positions above 0.5%

So I'm thinking Iran saying it needs $15B in oil sales to stick to JCPOA and it awaits US response ( which is obviously a big FU ) whilst the tankers are probably off loading to Syria as we speak. Brent heading for $61

Talking of the old days we could be on for a repairer spike tomorrow.

I would be surprised if Woodford would want to take the loss here. We do have some shorts below 0.5% so my guess is they are controlling the price action here possibly while they quietly exit.
