It's an embarrassment. I'm glad I don't pay for this service - or trade with them.
IG are a very good broker. CFD's, Spread betting - which you don't have to use - and share trading accounts as well as an ISA account. No fees, cheap trades - I pay £5 a trade on my ISA account but I think that is slightly cheaper as/if I do at least 1 spread betting trade per month - charts to die for, quick and easy log in, superb watchlists with live prices, excellent on a mobile and it stays logged on all day if you want it to. Availability of shares is excellent and you can usually bypass a NT with them for a slightly higher price.
I've not used Halifax but I do use Hargreaves Lansdown who are expensive - I pay £11.95 a trade as an occasional trader plus a monthly fee on how big a holding you have but they do pay interest on any cash in my shares ISA which is unusual and a bonus which for me covers the account fee.
