I don't think to talk and look at standards is "pathetic". The early plan was to sign restaurants with good Trip Adviser ratings and reviews. Has that been forgotten?

Most of the very poor, out of focus photos have now been removed. Was it a waste of time to point this out? Obviously not.

You want to make yourself useful and make Aidan aware of Discoeat, who already have 87 restaurants signed in London and in particular that they are offering a 14-day booking window and discounts of between 10% and 50%. Big Dish will not be competitive with a 2-day booking window and their seemingly out-of-date 25% and 50% discount plus 2-for-1 deals.

Same restaurant that had the very poor photos - says it all really - poor standards all round.

I agree though they are not exactly rushed off their feet.

Don't forget the 5 in Brighton so it's actually 13 in 3 months.

EastZEast has a 5 rating (out of 5) in Bradford and Blackburn and a 3 rating in Salford. Must just be a Birmingham problem.

Let's hope they hurry and sign the Manchester branch with its 4-star hygiene rating.

Date of inspection 19th February 2019 - that is nearly 7 months ago and that is a lot of time for improvement. If the Manchester restaurant has 4 out of 5 then it will not have taken much to improve the Birmingham hygiene standards and it is probably already all done.

Where is the Manchester restaurant. I cannot see Manchester live.

I don't think it is probably a good idea to offer every slot at 50% off as if that doesn't bring in the diners then the restaurants have nowhere to go. However, a variety of discounts in the 30%, 35%, 40% range still offers a massive discount with the 50% still being the cherry on the top. This keeps a little bit more back for the restaurants.

Also if you think about it if some of the slots are only a 10% or 15% discount then the 25% discount suddenly looks a massive saving - which it is.

It's all down to psychology.

Here we go. You've heard it here first.

Check out Roxy's Bistro in Bournemouth and look at the 7.30pm slot - it's a 35% discount and the first one I've spotted on BigDish. This is a great move.

I was going to make the point that a lot of the longer termer Bournemouth restaurants have started offering a lot more 50% discount slots and that an option to maybe offer 30% or 35% or 40% discounts would be a good idea. This offers a bigger discount than the 25% and yet still keeps the 50% option as the "best" deal of the day and one that the punters will try to get but if the times are unsuitable or the 50% slots are all booked then at least 35% off is a big saving.

Also, it shouldn't be too long before the 10%, 15%, 20% discounts become available which will get diners booking through BigDish at the busier weekend times and put a stop to the "No available seats - View other dates" offputting message.

With regards to the maps I see the list/map option on the top right on the App - apologies for not seeing that before. Unfortunately, my stubborn Android phone will still not open the maps where the address link is on each restaurant - so that is the fault of my phone.

I still cannot see any maps on the website though. Maybe a list/map option would be a good idea as well as a map on each individual restaurant page.

Separately I have an issue with the App crashing. Again it may be my phone, though it is only 18 months old and has plenty of available storage and memory. The App says "BigDish has stopped". "Open App again" doesn't work and although I know I should I do not want to send feedback, which is the other option. I have rebooted my phone and it still won't load up. Previously I have had to uninstall the App and reinstall it to get it to work. Again this may just be my phone.

Look at the burger on the Penny Black page (Birmingham). That is a thing of beauty. It looks divine. I want one!!!!!

No, Gregberry, some people just care about presentation and the little things that count in life and which can improve rather than lose revenue.

You should read the Annual Report that was brought out on 1st August and be aware of the lack of revenue of this fledgling company and of how much they need to improve restaurant numbers and user numbers and as the App/website is the only selling tool for Bigdish the better this looks and works the better for business.

Now the other 2 outside photos of EastzEast have disappeared as well. That's good. Ongoing monitoring.

Taj Mahal has been improved too with the out of focus fish and chips removed and the rest are now pretty good.

The last 3 on Utopia the Country Bar are pretty dire stilL. The first 2 are fine but then the seabass is out of focus as is the internal shot and the outside photo with street signs and Road Closed is out of focus and very offputting.

I just wish monty5662 would make Aidan aware of Discoeats and their presence in London as that might just be the impetus to make them get a move on with the task in hand.

I see that EastzEast have resubmitted an alternative, and much better, photo for their lamb shank or whatever it is so at least someone is listening somewhere. That was the worst out of half a dozen very poor photos and the others could still do with improvement. Bigdish need to monitor all of the photos and not just change one if they want to be a success. Presentation is very important in the food industry.

Looking at Bigdish App/website as directly compared to Discoeats I have noticed that BG do not seem to include any maps. This may not be important in some of the smaller towns that have featured so far but will be vital in London and the bigger cities.

There certainly aren't any maps at all on the website which is pretty poor and I am not sure about the App. It looks as if there is a link to Google maps but it doesn't work on my Android phone. Not sure if anyone else can get it to work.

Discoeats on the other hand seem to base their website around location with a big map on the front screen and also a very good map on the restaurant page showing the restaurant as well as neighbouring restaurants. The App shows a much more local map with places of interest shown but not other restaurants.

This is another improvement that is required - as long as the management can drag themselves away from the priceless analytics of data (wacko talk!!!!!).

Who is your friend of a friend - Aidan, or perhaps one of the other directors of Big Dish. There's no need to be silly or to bring eatigo into it.

On thinking about it it is much easier for the restaurant staff to take the photos than the TM's. What Big Dish need to do is monitor these photos and to make sure that they are of a certain standard to attract customers and not put them off. Food is a delicate business. A blurred picture of a dish or a restaurant is as bad as having food served on a dirty plate. Big Dish cannot go around and inspect the plates that the food is served on but they can inspect the photos that are submitted and make sure that they are all of a certain quality.

I can see that. The TM isn't going to hang around for hours waiting for a certain dish to be prepared so he/she can get a photo of it on a plate nor can they guarantee to turn up when the restaurant is empty and looking smart ready for service. And it may be raining or whatever on the day they turn up so outside shots may not be possible.

However it is up to Big Dish to monitor the photos that they put on the App. That is their initial window and they need to be of a certain standard. That is entirely the job and responsibility of Big Dish.

The Brighton photos are excellent and will attract customers while the Birmingham photos added today are a huge deterrent. Simples.

"it's up to the restaurants to be responsible for what they put on bigdish platform" and it's up to Big Dish to make sure that the photos are good enough and suitable for the Big Dish platform. That is what they are not doing and they should be.
