It's no good Big Dish saying the photos are down to the restaurant and not doing something about it. The restaurants have a life and income without Big Dish but Big Dish do not have any income without their partner restaurants. Big Dish management needs to make sure the photos are to a standard, and nice and clear or request for them to be resubmitted. This is for the benefit of both the restaurant and Big Dish. Presentation is very important in the restaurant industry and counts a long way to whether diners will book again or not.

Yes I appreciate if the photo is of a specific dish then the TM may not have a chance to get a photo and this is why they may have to be taken by the restaurant staff but the TM's can at least get shots of the outside and inside and maybe give advice of which photos would be suitable for the App/website.

The photos seem to be absolutely fine on the Brighton restaurants and I must admit it is not something I have noticed before.

Maybe the brummies are just a bit ***** and in******* of using a camera phone competently.

If you go on the App and look you will see that a lot of the restaurants include a full copy of the menu. This is linked where it says "See full menu". This also gives the availability and prices of the drinks.

I've just been to my vodafone store and they have looked and my location services is definitely enabled. Maybe this feature doesn't work on Android.

Drinks have never been included in the discounts and that is the same with the other Apps that do the same.

However I do remember one poster a while ago who booked a table through the Big Dish App and said that his party had also been given full discounts off the drinks.

And it is entirely up to Big Dish. This App/website is Big Dish's sole source of revenue and it is up to them to make sure the photos are up to standard. Reject them, make them take them again, get the TM's to take them or show them how to take them but don't fill the App with substandard photos.

The restaurants will not and do not need to supply their own photos - though it may be possible that every Big Dish signed restaurant owner has an out of date phone or camera and the staff/management just don't have the skill level to take a few decent photos but then on the other had all of the discoeats restaurant managers have brand new phones and cameras and are pre-trained in photography. Rubbish.

I think an App/website manager alongside the social media manager would be a good idea - and maybe get the App manager up and running first as the appearance of the restaurants is the first point of contact for the potential customers and of vital importance.

The Utopia the Country Bar food photos are actually okay and of a good enough standard but the outside photo there with the Road Closed sign, No Entry sign and half of the facade is not good enough.

Actually the omelette is great, the sausages on toast is okay too but the rest - seabass, inside and outside are very poor.

Discoeats photos are 100% better than those on the Big Dish App/website. They are clearer, show the whole restaurant inside and out in a much better way and show whole plates of food which looks enticing and attractive.

Re the photos being out of focus I am looking at them on my phone, on a 20 inch PC screen and a nearly new, expensive laptop and they are out of focus on all of them. It's a bit like watching a 1960's or 1070's TV program - even a bit seedy.

Look at Taj Mahal in Birmingham. The pictures are out of focus and the discounts take a bloody age to load. Penny Blacks too. Some photos are okay - Migas Tapas for example - but that still takes an age to load on the App.

Thanks. As long as it's my fault I can try and get it sorted. I may go into my local vodafone store and see if they can help.

Incidentally how far does it search? Does it give distances? directions? etc.

I know I live in the sticks - and that's my choice.

I would never have recommended or even expected Big Dish to start in the West Country though and things should start moving a lot quicker once they get signing up in the big cities.

3.36p to sell and someone even sold at that price which seems a bit rash. Things can only get better - hopefully!!!

The market doesn't seem too impressed with 8 new restaurants in Birmingham after all the delays - no sign-ups since June apart from the rather sad 5 in Brighton - and what most shareholders took to be Sanj's talk of 200 new outlets to be added in bulk in September.

I do agree with someone's post a while ago - I think it was a repost of a post on ADVFN - that the Big Dish App loads a bit slowly - especially the discounts.

When I go on discoeats and eatigo the discounts are there already - as if they are fixed on the picture and they do not have to load separately. With Big Dish I am literally sitting waiting to see the discounts and sometimes they take absolutely ages to appear.

The photos also load too slowly. This needs improving.

No, anything I do it just doesn't work. I have enabled location services and uninstalled and reinstalled the App and restarted my handset and I just get the same message - "Location Services turned off on your device. Please go to settings and enable location services to use this feature".
