These dodgy characters come on the BB with weird agendas, frequently to hi-jack a thread for whatever reason and some things they say just have to be countered. That happened tonight and for good reason it was countered. In the process (and high spirits) the original thread fell by the wayside.

So apologies to the original well-intentioned, serious posters. I hope the thread remains.

The first part of your post is compeletely redundant and merely a rant designed to deflect from the fact that you realise you were wrong to re-post a private family message on a public BB. You have no right to do so. It is weird that you did. (BTW your original post made no mention of anti-smoking campaigns etc . . . Lord only knows what your motive is).

I am not "buddies" with Mr Ripley. I am not buddies with anyone on this BB. This BB is not part of my real life. In my real life I interact with real people and I do not confuse the two. For sad, smug egotists like you, you seem to imagine that this BB is something more that a free social media space . . . but what? A stage for you to promote your vacuous ego and imagined aliances? I think I recall BITL saying, a week or so ago, that he was taking a breather from the BB . . . along the lines of, had said all he can really say at this point and not much point turning up here to take abuse and disingenous claptrap from half-baked FUDders, dimwits, liars, clowns, itinerant acrobats, strolling players, limpdycks, losers and fools . . . or words to that effect.

I paraphrased the last bit . . . well, most of it actually.

I have said it before and I will say it again . . . at its best, this BB is better informed than any other I have seen on LSE. Thanks to all the dedicated sleuths and knowledgeable posters for that (you and we know who you are). The confidence these posters bring makes the remaining (relatively) brief period of waiting for the big news to hit, seem like no big deal. The spade work has been done, we are on the home straight, . . . by eck but we are a lucky bunch of people.

Whether or not there is a "link" would be difficult to prove. But what I do believe is true (also hard to prove) is that groups work together to get post/threads removed. I don't recall exactly but I think that if 3 (4, 5?) posters report a post then that will lead to it being removed. Often the entire thread.

We see threads being removed here all the time . . . often not at all contentious but perhaps unwelcome to certain individuals. If that individual can muster a few "mates" and/or a few of his/her own fake ID's to report posts, it is remarkably easy for an individual or a small group to hugely affect the narrative on the BB.

I know I am stating the obvious to some but I am often amazed at how naive so many posters are about the way social media and the financial markets are manipulated by people who know the systems, exploit the loopholes and do so knowing that what they do can almost certainly never be proven.

crowfoot (my fellow swine) there is no need to keep posting your simplistic example of how UT's work. Some of here who have been dealing on AIM for 20 years or more know the theory. We also believe that certain MM's are more than capable and willing to play the game to their advantage.

One would have to be a pretty naive swine to imagine otherwise.

Be4C, not sure who you are suggesting is myopic, me or the MM's.

To expand: aandi's post at 07.40hrs gave a fair explanation of what the implications of such a UT can be. The last paragraph reads,

"A late high price UT like the one at 16:35 could be a mistake, or intentional to close the price high (8% up) and with no news today, the average price at auction this morning before 8am will be 5% or so lower than the UT price. A 5% drop in price may spook some loose holders into selling if they only check the l ice at open and don't know about the UT, this can cause a cascade of selling which is useful for closing shorts and/or buying cheaply."

So is it beyond the realms of credibility that certain MM's might be up for a cascade . . ?
