The latest Investing Matters Podcast episode featuring financial educator and author Jared Dillian has been released. Listen here.
I do like hearing from Arthur during his interviews explaining the current finds and plans going forward, however we are now at a juncture where there is nothing left to really say until drilling results or funding /JV is agreed or otherwise
That was pretty much my feeling at the time also, with being invested in both BOD and VAST at the time, and knowing that VAST had no money I was surprised at first and then pretty much just shrugged my shoulders also. Once VAST were out of the picture Ghaghoo wise I then thought well if GEM wanted rid of it, who else would step in... I'm not aware of anyone else who has filled the VAST shaped void.. but now VAST look like they MAY become more of a going concern the thought just crossed my mind.
unrealistic to think VAST might come back to the table here, pending funds from their recently announced news?
Yes there could be news next week, but remember these other parties, the banks and potential JV partner will work to their own timescale, this is not within Art's control.. so I wouldn't get hopes up too high about news definitely coming next week.. it is coming at some point though!
Has been brought up quite a lot recently.. actions speak louder than words as far as I'm concerned, there is one item in his history that stands out for me... Oilexco and although it didn't end well, was at one point a success and would have returned massively for the shareholders. I have confidence that he can turn COPL into a much larger entity, he knows how to do it and will have learned lessons along the way.
Maybe you don't like the comms, but the actual performance of the production wells, as well as the activity of further well work, is available for those who choose to look for it. The find has been verified independently by Ryder Scott, and without a hedge in place for the first half of this year I believe we are profitable at current production levels.
RBL and JV negotiations are on-going however, regardless of this, upcoming profits from un-hedged operations can hopefully allow for further progress and perhaps a portion of debt repayment.
If the growth of COPL is achieved as investors hope, then there will probably still be detractors of Arthur and naysayers of the company... it doesn't mean their opinion matters though!
I think by year end we should hopefully see the fruits of the remedial well works. However if there still isn't a move in the positive direction by the December figures and no comms then I would be a bit perturbed. In saying that hopefully there should be news on progression or otherwise of the Farm in\RBL discussions. I think Art is possibly regretting mentioning the Farm in talks at the moment, as there is no real meat on the bone publicly available, and the PI's including myself have all had our interests piqued potentially earlier than necessary given the impatience of some.
I see there's more of the I don't know what my asset is really worth but I'd sell it for this nonsense again. The, I'd take a £1, I'd take £2, I'd take 50p right now crew.. just save it. You don't know what the asset actually is yet, a drill hasn't been sunk into the deeps yet, the existing flaring activities have yet to settle to a steady flow rate yet, but here you all are putting a notional price on something you don't actually know the value of yet.
I'm sure the lot of you would really sell a ming vase for a pittance without thinking to go and have it valued before agreeing a price. The truth is it could be worthless or it could be worth millions.. you wouldn't say you'd take a fiver for it without atleast waiting until you knew what it was actually worth, so I don't see why you would do the same here.
In my opinion, the only reason the JV wasn't RNS'd is because the company is remaining open to the many options available to it in order to progress field development. I think there would be more upset investors (sophisticated or otherwise) if a RNS was released saying company X has approached us with regards to a JV only for any news on it to fizzle out because it wasn't a route that was pursued. The JV may also just be in the form of an initial enquiry at this stage. I think, if possible, my preference would be for the COPL to go themselves if viable in any case. In saying that, it is good to know there are suitors showing an interest.
Florida I don't know why you've came to the conclusion my comment was based on whoever you deem the three stooges to be. It was purely based on the most recent RNAs from the company. Money comes in from oil sales, more expected, a reduction of debt.. only to take on more debt today. It just seems bizarre to me, but if as others have suggested the money will be used to complete a deal then fair enough. It just seems strange to me the pattern of events is all.
Not understanding the need for a further loan.. pulled in millions just recently from oil sales with a further payment due next month, My thoughts were the company should be pretty much flush with cash? I'm not inferring any negativity I just find this strange.
Actually even re-reading just the headline of the RNA shows great comms, mentioning the cash received in the headline is a proper attention getter, and even better it is backed up in the message itself.. definitely not just clickbait :)
