Out of interest visitinghost, when you interviewed the Eqtec BOD, when roughly was the interview? A bit of perspective could go a long way... was it just before they delayed Deeside and Billingham the first time (late 2021), or during 2022 whilst funds were fire selling hundreds of billions of £ worth of assets tanking the whole green energy sector?

So when eqtec have a hydrogen solution, it is for a neighbouring industrial demand. Like CF fertilisers next door to the Billingham plant. H2 is a direct feedstock for ammonia which makes fertiliser.

H2 is less than 5% of eqtecs target market/pipeline. Sounds like RNG is the way forward.

As posted at 12:36, Eqtec are developing CO2 (carbon capture) + syngas into RNG. The wood comes from waste sources.

An RNG heavy good vehicle (if converted from diesel) powered from MSW would have a smaller carbon footprint than a hydrogen or electric vehicle.

Oh and your claim that anaerobic digestion is better than gasification is not entirely true. It only works on certain feedstocks, has a high NOx value, requires a lot of chemicals to refine into fuels and has a high water requirement and a large amount of land is required.

A hybrid anaerobic digestion and gasification solution is the optimum technology and eqtec are already designing such plants with anaergia

The issue is a FOAK is always the most expensive. That's why Eqtec are developing their FOAK RDF plant on a shovel ready site in France. Once this is online, RDF is proven commercially and the price for the NOAK comes down.

During 2021-2022, new technologies are not being invested in. Biomass is not a new technology for eqtec hence they are building those plants in Europe and the USA until investment can be found for larger RDF/bio fuel plants in the UK.

Consider what the cost could be for Eqtec if a plant was built at the site of an existing coal power station (like the RNS for the site in France with the €1m award to eqtec for a feasibility study)

In Eqtec's case, they are developing the first RDF plant as an MDC in France. This is a shovel ready project, 6.5MW, and will cost much less than a comparible new build project (green field). I am expecting the IRR of the France MDC to be well over 30%.

Once that is online and RDF as a feedstock is proven at commercial scale, the floodgates could open (under the Eqtec licence model)

The UK CFD scheme currently pays £121/MWh (12p/kwh) for Energy from Waste combined heat and power plants. Higher margins could be reached with praking power contracts and/or battery storage on site which is panned at most large Eqtec plants.

Only efficient plants can enter (above 60% total efficiency), and 10% of capex has to have been spent on a project already before the owner can apply for the CFD.

Between you and testpack, you have brought up some very valid points. Let me Try to address all...

Here is some data from 2018 on the value of SNG from RDF. Page 10, €25-40/mwh compared to €55-83/mwh for gasoline through to biodiesel.

OK thats for RDF. What about Biomass... Eqtec only build plants where the economics work, example existing high value feed in tariff (Italy over €250/mwh until end of 2027), also there is an abundant source of local waste biomass. Croatia MDC will take waste products from a papermill (contaminated biomass, there will be a gate fee for this), and sell heat and power back to the paper mill. They are next door, so no long distance power lines/grid connection required. Eqtec can charge above market price and industrial neighbour below market price, both win.

Elsewhere (california and greece) the waste streams are biomass which would otherwise have been burned. In California, there is a gate fee for the waste forrestry wood, and carbon credits awarded for the biochar.

CO2 and NOX were mentioned as a concern. This unfortunately is true of any transitional technology. Eqtec has a syngas purification system to reduce impurities. They have modern gas engines which will have catalytic convertors. The NOx and CO2 profile is far better with higher efficiencies than incinerators, without the other nasty byproducts.

CO2 can actually be further refined into Renewable Natural Gas. This process is being done at University of Loraine with Eqtec right now.

Italian plant could be refinanced as soon as April.
MNRG will be repaid loans at refiannce and might want to invest in the next Eqtec plant.

Yep Jim, correct. That report was made early 2022 and those fears came true. It has happened to most Aim green energy companies due to inflation and risk averse infostructure investment. Luckily eqtec have the USA, France and Greece which are spending money on green energy solutions.
