HK, you can hardly call him getting his fat head in the media "negotiations". He's done everything he can to destroy his relationship with the current BOD. He's just making noise in his own time now IMO as the clock ticks by.

The fact of the matter is, if the BOD are sure of their legal footing here, they can just ignore him. The BOD laid out the terms that MA/SPD must meet and MA still hasn't met them with his appeal to the media of his "offer". He's just trying to go over the BOD heads. They're smart, he isn't.

You contradicted yourself then Coldspy. You said if it was that easy they'd all be doing it and then went on to give an example of a company that did it.

FLYB is another good example, which IMO has set a real precedent for the shafting of shareholders now.

The fact of the matter is, they are all doing it and will go on doing it until there is new legislation passed and a regulatory body installed that is fit for purpose in the UK.

With all the media attention MA is hoping he can pressurise the BOD into giving him what he wants, but if the BOD are confident of their legal position I see no reason for them to give in to his demands.

I still believe pre-pack administration is the most likely outcome here, but with all the pressure from the media now there is a slim chance the BOD may come to an arrangement with MA. That arrangement would no doubt be one where he keeps his share of the company and all other holders here are wiped out IMO. Make no mistake MA is a bigger shzithouse than the people running the show at the moment.

I am almost certain all negotiations ended a while ago. MA is IMO now just sitting twiddling his stumpy thumbs having spat his dummy out of his fat head waiting for Debenhams Doomsday in 40 hours and 15 minutes.

.......it says he's ramping up legal threats in the article. PMSL, as if that fat head can do anything and as if the far more savvy business people currently running DEBS give a flying fcuk what that fat head is threatening. His ego is just monumentally large it makes me sick to my stomach.

........after reading the article it appears the fat head has been outplayed. The begging letter for shareholders to print off was the biggest clue that he was getting desperate. Sounds like he's on even worse terms with the board now than he was before. They will not want to give him any chance of ousting them at an EGM so they'll rush this straight into administration now ASAP, Monday or Tuesday next week at the latest IMO.

What more can I say other than it was all pretty obvious. EXACTLY the same as FLYB, but evidently nobody learned anything from that.

.......when I see the sort of unfounded belief people have in there being a offer put forward by Monday morning. It genuinely scares me. There are religion organisations that would beg to have followers as blindly accepting as the people who invest in these kind of stocks.

It scares me more to see people investing more they can afford to lose, quite merrily ignoring all the facts, sticking there fingers in their ears and covering there eyes as the final bell rang today with not the slightest doubt that MA won't come running through the door on Monday with an offer. The mind boggles, it really does.

.........It's too late to do anything now, so I hope I'm wrong in my reading of this situation.

To my mind there is no way it would have been left this late if MA was seriously getting involved here.

I don't know what to make of those generic emails people have received from the PR office.

I truly believe there will probably be an RNS on Monday, but I doubt it will be the one everyone wants.

I reckon the next RNS will read along the lines of talks with SPD breaking down and SPD being unwilling to meet the terms. They'll then go on to say how pleased they are in giving everyone's money to the creditors, that everyone should just be happy the BOD all still have a cushy job and that everyone's pensions are still safe.

I'm no sure it is that good of a punt. Anyone still holding after the bell will be IMO at the very least 50%-75% worse off come Monday if Nothing has happened by then. These sort of gambles rarely pay off, and the odds are pretty poor given the risk too. This is now a 25/1 shot and everyone is being offered odds of 15/8 at best. The Grand National is better value than this.

........Let's see what happens.

As the reality of DEBS being handed over to the creditors on Monday sinks in the last 90 minutes are probably going to be hellish.

In spite of all the selling, the SP appears to have been propped up today by short closing and a few people gambling.

Will likely finish in the mid to high 1p range at best today and Monday morning will be an absolute nightmare when this opens with no news of a deal. Would be very surprised if this doesn't get down to around .5p within the first hour. Certainly a 50% drop in the first hour looks nailed on.

Probably someone who's made a packet here closing their short. May see a few of them today which will help prop the price up a little before the big fall before the close.

........As far as MA upping his stake goes, he could have done it for a number of reasons and not just for the one people would like to believe the most.

1) He could have had this plan all along and upped his stake simply for optics after everyone is wiped out he can pretend he was in the same boat.

2) His minions in the shadows could have been playing the market on his behalf after he added a few quids worth. Nice little earner.

3) He could have seriously intended to take this over and added before the current board made it impossible for him to get what he wanted.

Why hasn't he sold? Quite simply because he can write it all off as a loss against his tax no doubt hefty tax burden. It's a free bet to people like him, you may as well gamble it as give it to the tax man in his eyes.

I hope that has cleared things up for people thinking Ashley adding a few grands worth a while back means anything positive. It means absolutely nothing and should bring you absolutely no comfort whatsoever as an investor. People like us and Mr Ashley are running two separate races, so for heavens sake don't look to that fat head as a pace setter.

I agree Costa. Cheapest option will be for Ashley to pick this up for peanuts out of administration.

People keep saying he'll lose £150m and all that BS, but the fact remains his holding here is worth next to nothing anyway now, so it MAKES ABSOLUTELY NO DIFFERENCE.

Here's always swooped on companies when they are completely finished. I'm sure he'll be running DEBS soon enough but current shareholders will be wiped out altogether by then.

Indeed delta. If MA and SPD were seriously going to make a move they'd have already made it. He's almost certainly not going to be able to do anything after today. As you say, the fact he's left it this late tells you all you need know. Definitely looks like it's curtains now IMO.

......No news this morning and we're probably going to see an absolute bloodbath here today.

Most people are aware that today was really the last day. Obviously nothing will happen over the weekend and the RNS clearly stated BY April 8th NOT ON April 8th. The way I read it is that as of Monday DEBS will almost certainly be handed over to the creditors at which point it's game over.

It's a shame to see this happen here to everyone EXACTLY like FLYB. Identical in fact, the way the BOD have carried themselves with other egoistic major shareholders trying to oust them and failing miserably in the process.
