beginerman - 4M shares is not so vast, there are many here who have more than that. What it does mean though is that they will only make money by selling those shares at higher prices.
Ahhh but will higher prices come ? I hear some ask. I certainly do but who else ?
Well, certainly the market makers clearly think so, and they control the share price. So that would appear to be something of a recommendation would it not ?
As well as the obvious fundamental news that will be coming shortly wrt Vanchem, financials, BE, Imaloto, Mokopane, etc. there is also the not small issue of the 7.9M short position held by TPEP since the start of June. The MM's (and now everyone here) have received strong circumstantial evidence that Vaneck will not sell their shares at less than 26p. Since there is also a strong and reasoned belied that TPEP borrowed their shares from Vaneck, this means that the Market Makers can see that they will only be getting Vaneck's 4,064,471 shares back once 26p has been reached. This means that the MMs know they should force the SP over that level before TPEP close out their short, if the MMs are going to be able to have enough shares to provide back to TPEP.
UNLESS - the MMs are currently accumulating a juicy little block of 7.9M shares to let TPEP out easily. They have about half of that already.
It is up to you to decide if they get to swing this nice little number, or not.
