You don’t seem genuine Benji. Your backstory doesn’t quite stack up. All the information on Boo was out when you bought? There has been no update since then. Best take your imaginary loss and look at it like a tuition fee. I don’t believe you own one share Benji. I don’t believe your story.

No one has bought a share because of any of my posts, only me. And anyone who has bought at 110p won’t have to wait 3 years. I don’t care about shorters, for the very simple reason that I have no intention of selling at these levels.

You talk about the mess the company is in? That’s a puzzle to me because their last RNS was the update with revised guidance, effectively a profit warning. You bought in later than that date. So the “mess” you talk about was known to you at the time of purchase. The company haven’t made any further updates since then.

The greatest depression the world has ever known? That just about sums up were your mind is at. If you really believe that is true then sell everything and buy gold. Nothing will survive that catastrophe you’ve just outlined. You’re losing the plot.

Have you ever worked at a retailer Smartie? I have. And I’ve never seen one yet that doesn’t go through periods of underperformance. Which means sales, margins, costs go in the wrong direction for a period. I doubt anyone is panicking in BooHoo head office, best leave that to share bulletin boards. Can you tell us what sales, margins, costs, returns, etc will be in 2025? No, neither can I. If you don’t have any confidence that BooHoo will recover and grow then sell up, it’s the only rational decision.

Looks to me like the attack dogs are out on anyone who is remotely positive about BooHoo’s long term prospects.

Now why would that be? Is it for altruistic reasons, or purely selfish reasons? Something doesn’t feel right about this? I do wonder if they are ordinary punters?

Look at my posts, I’ve never ramped. I just believe that BooHoo has good prospects in the longer term and that the issues that many retailers are grappling with will pass. So anyone buying at 110p will likely do very well if they have the patience to sit through this period. That’s hardly a ramp.

If you don’t have the stomach for an 18% drawdown you really shouldn’t be investing at all. But take responsibility for your own decisions, don’t blame other people.

What annoys me is that none of the people who attack you during these times are around when the tables turn.

Benj … funny that, you are one of several newbies in the last few days? Not wise to buy on the word of other people, best do your own research. How long did you intend to hold the shares? If 18% down in this market is one of the worst investments out there, I’m guessing you haven’t been investing for very long?

BooHoo is a company that is in a growth phase. A once in 100 year pandemic has hit and we are seeing aftershocks with supply chains and inflation as demand falls then surges. Add to that a shorting operation and you get underperformance and a share price plunge. If BooHoo were a private company no one would be thinking of company valuation. This would be viewed as a setback on the road to higher growth. Something to be worked through. No one bought BooHoo for dividends, and it would not make sense to change strategy due to a setback.

Marshall Wace made a big investment in Meta (Facebook) just prior to the stock plunging. None of these organisations are omnipotent, if you have a large amount of money, you borrow stock and sell it, the stock is going down. The antidote is good updates. A few years from now people will look at BooHoo as a missed opportunity. We’re all hindsight investors at heart.

They have ran the business as if they were still a private company, and that's why you get the governance issues. But it's not like they don't have skin in the game, and however wealthy they won't be enjoying the hit too their status. My hope is that these lessons have been learned and won't be repeated. The bulk of the other issues are solvable, but will take time. Who knows, perhaps the finals will be better than guidance? But it will take several good updates to clear out the short interest.

I believe that if there is a material difference between the actual results and the guidance a company has no choice but to update the market, and that's why you got an earlier update than usual. The "rumour" seems a bit suspicious, and I wonder if a similar trick was pulled with THG?

The most difficult aspect of investing is the emotional and behavioural element, where you have to fight your instincts. Take a look at the business. Growing despite a pandemic and now dealing with the after shocks like supply chain issues and inflation. This too shall pass.

On my twitter feed a week or so ago I saw a note supposedly from Fidelity ranking their most successful investors by category. The best were accounts of dead people (presumably untouched for a while) followed by people who lost their passwords (and couldn't tinker with their accounts).

Why would the founders want to sell? Why would they want to hand over the business cheaply to someone else? I can see some sense in a management buyout, at the expense of shareholders. But I can't see the Kamani family allowing someone else to benefit at their expense.

I wouldn't bank on that. All Betaville said was there was interest in BooHoo. That's not a surprise, as I would be surprised if there wasn't. But that doesn't mean that there will be a negotiation or offer. Indeed, I'm not sure it makes sense to sell when your negotiating position is at its weakest. Better to focus on the business and work through this difficult period.
