Interesting, although any bidder will have a limited timeframe to make an offer now. There are less than 2 weeks before the management in HSV discloses their intention to accept Brookfield's offer

I think the average customer here is not the day trader. I think the customer base is solid and growing. In time I think HL will close the gap with other platforms offering a more dynamic trading system.
But many platform don't offer access to SIPP or investment in funds etc. Also HL gives access to more global markets, which the eToro, IG, Plus 500 ecc don't offer. Compared to the past there is lots more or retail traders which gives a ample customer pool where modern platforms are tapping. I dont think they are eating away HL customer base, which is actually growing.

Putting some timings behind would have been sensible though

I wouldn't make such an assumption. the market is contemplating the possibility of reduced disposable income due to inflation which will stress retailers. Also competition in the US is fierce. JD doesn't pay dividends which doesn't keep holders with long view either. We shall see.

if you consider that profit before tax is expected to be over 900m from about 450m last year, the forecasts look about right to me too. They are taking their sweet time to release the earnings but I think the accounts for the demerger are quite significant.

What happens to our shares if the company is taken private, I understand we can no longer sell the shares on the main market but it should be possible OTC (even inside an ISA?). I am not familiar with this, does anyone know more?

Brookfield is taking is sweet time to announce the intent to put an offer in or walk away. Considering the 2 bank holidays, there are only 5 days left until the 21st. I think they want to see where the share price stabilise a consider that as a fair market price

No trading update this morning apparently...

My guess the shares will stay flat at the announcement. The PE already reflect the forecasted earnings with a fc PE of about 18. The peak we have seen was of a overpriced stock or of a growth stock.
I am curious to see what the market will decide in the coming weeks.

I have the impression that UL is lacking a long term strategy.
They seemed to be needing (desperately) new brands (i.e. the GSK ones). Would seeking new opportunities from existing brands be like trying to drain blood from a stone? How does Unilever plan to expand?

Unilever turned down an offer of £40. I wonder if an offer in the same region would now be attractive?

What do you expect from the next sets of results, in particular with regards to the increased cost of gas, would that hint households to mitigate by cancelling their policies? Other factors at play are inflation, interest rates (even if very marginally in my opinion), increased operational costs due to rising energy cost and wages. Although according to Richard H. inflation has had minimal impact on the company, at the time he was interviewed.
I think the biggest factors for an upside are the seemingly thriving US market and potential to increase the customer base in the UK, due to the acquisition of new customers by energy suppliers that are also HSV partners.
