I think I just heard on the radio that ITVs most watched programme on Xmas day was Doc Martin which pulled in an estimated 3.3 million viewers. Doesn't sound a lot.
gambitys, it seems very odd that you've made over 5000 posts and yet you still don't know how the spread works out of trading hours - rookie mistake.
I think that ITVX is an improvement on the Hub. That said its really not so very different.
Not convinced it works that way. The likes of Clarkson, Piers Morgan, Jeremy Kyle etc may come and go but it won't stop people watching Corrie or whatever else takes their fancy.
I don't get it, why are we talking about Clarkson ? I just don't see how any of this impacts on the business one way or the other.
Well I agree with that last bit.
Sisy, Any more news on the Xmas uplift?
Off the top of my head when ITV announced they intended to pay an dividend of around 5 pence per share the SP probably stood at around £1.20. Since then the SP has dropped to 75p meaning that the dividend has increased in percentage terms but its still only 5 pence per share. I take the point that anybody investing at todays levels is getting a very good return of their investment but for us LTHs it smacks of spin.
What do you really know about the motives of others? All this talk, which you get on every single board, about the dastardly deeds of Shorters and Market Manipulators strikes me as nothing more than fanciful conjecture. I'm not even sure that the oft reported numbers of buys and sells can be taken at face value and as for people getting excited about ADRs. Look I've no problem with people voicing an opinion (this is after all a discussion forum) but I do get very by amateurs trying to pass themselves off as being cleverer than the rest of us. Instead of pretending to have the game sussed it would be nice to see a bit of humility - particularly from people with a very patchy track record when it comes to predictions.
Whats the significance of 70p?
"Patience and it will rebalance upwards with the Christmas lift". Things must bad if we're pinning our hopes on the lesser spotted Santa Rally.
"Only time will tell". Dead right mate, you can do all the research you want but at the end of the day nobody knows what the future holds. In 2023 we might get lucky and see someone bid for at least a part of the business, in which case our foresight and wisdom should be rewarded.
Yes loads of positive stuff on here - as indeed there has been for the last 3 or 4 years that I'm aware of. Thank goodness for the dividend and remember folks that, in percentage terms, that 3p dividend yield steadily increases as the share price falls. Solid.
In their pitch to potential advertisers ITV claim to reach 35 million viewers per week. This strikes me as a plausible figure though not nearly so impressive as the ones touted by Winstanly. Now where did I put my laser projector?
BBC had first choice as regards the semi-finals and the final will be shown on both channels so I really don't see how the penalty miss impacts on ITV viewing figures. On the other hand its only 18 months to the Euros.
When people resort to referencing ADRs you know they must really be scratching round for something positive to say. I much prefer something along the lines of "The share price is only starting to reflect value and is only at the bottom of the curve. The MA 50 should follow the MA 20 up through the MA 100 this week (golden cross) and cement the rise. Yes we'll get pull backs but the trend is set for a sensible rerate well north of £1". Total baloney but still uplifting in its own way. Lets have more golden crosses and a sensible rerate soon.
Strike, I agree with every word you've just said. Twenty million plus will watch tonights match which can only be a good thing for ITV. Furthermore as someone who is heavily invested in ITV I'm hoping the new streaming service proves to be a great success. All I'm doing is challenging the assertion that this means we've got 20 million new subscribers. In the immediate aftermath of Englands last match people were posting "kerching Kerching" and making wild predictions about the share price. Just because you want something to happen doesn't make it so. Lets hope ITVX does well - it seems to be off to a good start.
"There’s nothing better that putting the match on you mobile phone and than casting it to a modern projector - big screen almost anywhere". Ah I see - everything makes sense now.
OK educate me, whats the advantage of watching the match via ITVX rather than simply tuning into the main channel?
I'm on planet earth. Why would the average person bother to live stream via ITVX when all they have to do is turn the telly on and watch the match - just like you would if it was on the BBC.
