Apple have effectively done no more than buy a shell on the cheap, to park a new tech department in. They wouldn't really mess around in their piggy bank for 100m to buy a proper business. It's a bit like a Vegas high roller playing on the shove ha'penny board.

True, they could possibly try and reverse-engineer Melody's tech (don't ask me how. I haven't a clue}. But Melody have stolen a march and have two invaluable USPs, as well as a small army of partners and investors on board. They are too far down the road to be caught. Offerings on You-tube are amateur hour compared to Melody. Anything Apple may do is not likely to result in competition because I don't think that is their intention

Failed fund-raising resulted in half the staff losing their jobs, and their music, such as it was, became non-existent.
Sure Melody might need 100s of millions. That's why 'take out' is continually being debated.

It's almost anyone's guess what can happen here, LowiePete. A take out, if indeed there is to be one, could almost as easily come from left field as any of the favourites. We have had some US investors taking substantial positions recently that we hadn't previously known about.
Personally, I wouldn't rule out Facebook. They seem effectively to have become a large holding company, letting their purchases carry on, but under their umbrella, e.g. Beat Saber. This could well appeal to AM.

We will have to wait and see. But hopefully not for too much longer.

The first thing that comes to mind is how do Immersive Construction fit into this? As things stand they are a subsidiary of EVR as much as Melody. Are they being sold, or is it a case of who gets what in a take out?

The virus will eventually be killed off by vaccines, but there are parts of life which may not be the same again - gigs included. With carbon footprints in mind, there was already thought of playing them behind closed doors even before the virus arrived e.g. Coldplay's gig last November.
This is now certain to accelerate. It may well only be a part-transition but it is one that has been hastened by Covid. If Melody had an opportunity here, it is now even greater. Words like 'silver' and 'lining' come to mind.

All this is said with respect to those involved in fighting this.

I really don't see how that helps us Petebo. Unless EVR actually DO start gigs from behind closed doors, which was our initial reaction when the virus hit. And monetise it. We know the tech works. They've done it in beta, and seemingly tested it to destruction. Hopefully, they are working on it
Incidentally we met on ADVFN today (Birtwhistle). I don't post on there much any more. The creep has ruined it.

At present, EVR CAN'T launch the theatre (it's closed), and they WON'T launch the music. Broadway and West End will open again eventually. What happens with the music is anyone's guess.

This has almost become a classic business situation in that Melody have a potential worldie on their hands, but they are not big enough to move it forward themselves. For example, they have a CMO with a hand-in-glove CV, but what serious marketing have they actually done? The £12 million recently raised would certainly buy a lot of TV space, Hopefully it's not going to be used just to shore up the balance sheet.

A take out doesn't have to be limited to Facebook and Apple. It wouldn't be great if it is. But you can throw Amazon, Disney, Netflix and Spotify into the mix, and probably one or two others we've not yet thought of. Whichever, this has to be the way to go. IMO.

Petebo, I've looked on Bing to see if anyone has uploaded anything new about MelodyVR. Sure enough there is something with just videos, gone on during the last couple of weeks or so, e.g. Kaisers, Pixies, Wet Wet Wet.

The whole lot is pixilating.

I can accept it being a problem in the early days, but why on earth are they plugging old stuff like this which has probably NEVER worked properly.

This just tells me what I thought anyway, that they have little, if any, interest in the back catalogue. They're not the only ones. It has no mileage in it. At all.

If all else fails to raise your optimism, then consider the SP. The placing resulted in a 20% dilution yet it has actually risen. In fact it is higher now than it was more than a month ago. (6 March). Pretty remarkable when you consider everything else going on in the background. Ask yourself, might there not be a reason for this?
