True, in the circumstances, it demonstrates much goodwill on Melody's part to show it for free, and it probably serves as a try-out for the new studios. But they will need revenue from live gigs eventually, because we would like a nice big share price eventually.

It doesn't necessarily have to translate into profit. Spotify for example, never made any until 2018. But their substantial revenue would have been ploughed back into growing their business.

Not sure how much the studio has cost to build, but it looks like fund-raising money extremely well spent. (Here was me thinking it was just to bolster up the balance sheet).

It is a permanent fixture available to just about everyone and is likely to be in continual use well beyond Covid, with 'Global Warming' and 'Carbon Footprints' in mind. Coldplay's gig last November was just the start.

I wasn't even able to access the virtual AGM but it doesn't look like I missed much.
Call it apathy maybe but there seems such a lack of interest by the founders that one wonders if they are just thinking in terms of a take out.
Despite daft arguments by some that they have 'dumped' shares they still have eighty per cent of their original holding. At £1 per share they would be worth £155m and £117m respectively, probably more than they would eventually earn.
They, together with their staff could still be left running the company. Facebook, for example, have become a holding company leaving their purchases to stand alone under their umbrella.
It has seriously begun to look that Melody are simply not big enough to go it alone. Whilst their placings have all been successful (unlike Next) there has to be a limit to the dilution this creates.

It really confirms what most of us think. That Melody has no worries about competition - because they don't have any.
Their product/tech is in a class of its own. This has to be apparent to Facebook.

It was maybe by co-incidence, but music had begun to take it on board even before the virus struck e.g. Coldplay's gig last November.

This doesn't even require Melody to be nimble. They've always included private sessions as being part of their repertoire.

I may be naïve, but with most scheduled venues being cancelled until whenever, artists, labels, etc. should be banging on Melody's door. Always assuming of course Melody have given them their address !!
