very interesting article indeed yesterday, mclean, on front page of the Times business section this followed a complaint by the Head of Sirius Minerals to the FCA about abuse of posting on Advfn and LSE. apparently Sirius had had to abandon a major financing plan following a share price collapse, after trolls had posted that the company was planning an equity raise. he described this as 'wild West stuff' and thinks these forums should be shut down. he did acknowledge though that there was also genuine posting of informed discussion by skilled investors, who were happy to share their expertise and experience for free. strike any chords?

with so many posts being taken down from the weekend, i was chuckling at the advice i gave to Afacharthatredjunkiehistory below to be himself, as everyone else was already taken. and i wondered if oscar wilde, when he penned his famous quote, could in his wildest imagination have conceived how appropriate that was for a person who wrote on a couple of bulletin boards using 4 different personas? maybe not but i like to think he might have commented that fakes and phoneys are always around as part of the useless baggage we have, no matter which century you happen to live in.

my post on Advfn today:-
historically on this board, we are force fed daily ten tons of garbage by the 'tag' trolling team of junkie, Historyman and charttrader. if one stops, one of the others jumps in the ring. so what's going on here? particularly as we wait for the divi announcement and it would be so easy to construct a negative narrative around the delay? the silence is golden, so i'm not complaining. here are some possible reasons: a) the 3 of them decided to go on a bus trip to Skegness for a few days badly needed rest from trolling. b) they had all worked in an internet cafe and got sacked on the same day for abusing the facilities... or c) are we looking here at an unholy trinity situation? so not a tag team after all but a 3 in 1? such that if the 1 is ill, say, or at a rest home for feeble minded in Skegness, the whole trolling operation has to shut down (as indeed it appears to have done). the only flaw in this theory is that remarkably Afafumane has also simultaneously stopped posting on the lse board, which makes 4 identities. funny that. but then that's easy - it's an unholy quaternity! just saying like...

agree with your view, mclean, that the delayed $7m is likely delaying the divi announcement. perfectly credible that the board/nomad would want to see this first. the sum itself is not significant (let's face it, we have a lot of money in the bank) but in the context of the auditors' notes on our income stream and since the loan notes repayments remain our principal revenue source pro tem, that is clearly the prudent decision. visually important as well - you might imagine the squawking in certain quarters on this board if it were otherwise. so we should chillax : jite's going to pay up.

i don't disagree with you Eadwig. they do need now to get this divi policy out and pronto. and then continue by meeting more time targets, as they announce things. that said, the story evolving here now is tremendously powerful. for value investors in AIM hydrocarbons stocks, San Leon stands out, now looking much derisked with big upside from 27p.
