RE: Unintended consequences14 Dec 2024 13:57
Poor old Ed Sillibund, his colleagues turning on him (Streeting clearly wants to put down any competition with Starmer's "political blood in the water" and Liebour's sharks circling), the Ghosts of Syria haunting Ed with no sunshine in sight or not even ill winds to blow away the woes of the lack of renewable generation. Having said that the last storm blew away a few turbines and a major solar farm and I often wonder if Ed Moribund has factored in wind damage, replacing old turbines, cost of land fill and decommissioning large structures, concrete foundations and environmental pollution from delaminating carbon fibre chards and finance?
Now some sensible people are now asking to know what the real cost Net Zero is to the UK and what it will quantitatively achieve for the UK people, economy and environment. If this was not bad enough for Ed, his powers to circumvent Local Planning will undoubtedly make him a "Wicker Man" hate figure for many people across the country.
Ed is leading the charge to National bankruptcy through Net Zero subsidies aided and abetted by Reevsy and overseen by wooden top Starmer, who has a surprising inability to comprehend the politicking around him or unintended consequences of the Government's simple actions. I can imagine Starmer with the handbook on "Brainstorming" at hand in a classroom of Ministers. Each time he writes a vague idea on the white board and whilst his back is turned, a Minister runs out of the room to implement it.................without the slightest understanding of the consequences.
To cap it all, our ally Norway is going to throw the breaker on exporting electricity to the UK and Europe, which in turn will mean the French will put up their prices and have another tool in their armoury whenever we go to the negotiating table on any matter, fishing rights, immigration and probably the Channel Islands come to mind. This has been a very negative post, but the assertions are broadly fair, it would therefore be unfair of me not to offer some solutions:
Build/replace several Nuclear Power Stations for a base load of clean energy
Roll back EPL to allow investment into the NS O&G industry to allow it to play a proper role in the economy's growth and a transition to a Net Zero
Look at Hydro, Tidal and Geothermal solutions which can provide longer term and consistent supplies of energy 24/7
Build quality energy efficient housing and replace older stock and stop some of the ridiculous subsidies which Green contractors are abusing.
It appears we are a "Nanny State" already or at least increasingly so, so crack down on polluters whether it be sewage spills or the 33.93 millions cars in the UK running around on deflated tyres or people dropping litter and fly tipping.
My neighbour has just been given £50,000 of subsidies to upgrade their little stone cottage, they are delighted but they spend most of their time outside and apparently a couple of sets of thermal clothing would have
