Picked a few ENQ before the bell, as can't believe we are back in the 11.80's. My main worry at the moment is related to any merger or acquisition activity - what will it do to the sp?

This whole mess, politicians, net zero, energy strategy, zealots and EPL, to name a few simply defies logic.........but one thing is certain, it is propelling the UK economy into the abyss whilst making a few parasites very rich.

Ron, good find, a bit boring in terms of delivery, but what he is saying in terms of content mirrors what we have been saying on this board for some time.

The question is will Reeves trump Milliband and take some of the EPL pressure off NS O&G to create relatively instant growth?

Just had a heating engineer round to service the boiler, he said that planning required that new builds had air source heating, so they were fitted, but after two years, he has retrofitted 50% of the houses with gas boilers because of running costs and breakdowns. In addition, he said that a new development was required to have air source and the National Grid turned round and said "no", we can't supply the electricity for them in that area.

Personally, I think Ed should give every air source owner a free South facing green house to put them in, it might make them more efficient and less noisy?

Come on ENQ sp, it feels like AB is pulling us out of a steep dive, let's hope the results in a couple of weeks help.

Can anyone explain why we are off 4.75% in a day with Brent off only 0.5% - it does not make sense? We are now 12.9% down in just 5 trading days and that follows a good news RNS with Brent of just 1.7%. This cannot all be Trump's rhetoric surely?

ENQ MCap now just £223m again

I do not see any reason to delay continuing the buyback programme after all it was not all spent last year. Perhaps we need to petition IR for ENQ to immediately start a $30m buyback programme for 2025. Probably will not achieve $30m worth but it makes a better headline and at the current sp - 10%+ of shares.

1790 - they need to have an EPL petition which is shared on all the BB's and company websites. While we are at it a petition for modifying EPL to 2 months below a more sensible POO and decoupled from gas.

ENQ sp 12.1p - seriously - but then is it a buying opportunity?

Stumpy - just imagine how much tax Rachel would get from Capital Gains on shares as the MCap of NS O&G companies tripled over night, perhaps that is why the recent governments have reduced CGT allowances, so we all pay more tax on our ill gotten gains. Then of course there is tax on the champagne we would be celebrating with and 20% VAT on all the goodies to be bought. Trouble is, Rachel and it would appear this Government in particular (+Hunty and Richi) cannot see the bigger picture instead of the immediate dim witted greedy grab.

Correct me if I am wrong, but did not GF emphatically state with numerous witnesses that all the paperwork was in place for continuing operations - if that statement were only true for two weeks that would be a little economical with the truth.

My concern would actually be more about cash burn and how long current cash balances will last. To give ALBA any credibility in terms of operation and or future investment and return - GF needs to either provide an indication of ore grades, gold produced to date, coins sold and freshly minted. News of a really high grade strike might also do the trick but some qualification would be required.

Hang on - don't get rid of Ed yet as surely he is giving us an ENQ share buying opportunity before the Government finally has to do a U-turn on NS O&G policies. It might just dawn on Rachel that cutting off Ed's prolific spending and getting rid of EPL may be the easiest buttons to press to get some almost instantaneous growth, help GDP, help inflation, help jobs and provide energy security/reduce energy prices whilst someone works out a proper plan for energy going forward.

Ed is causing a problem for this BB. He is getting higher "Recommends" than posts about ENQ. Could someone please sack Ed and Rach as well a.s.a.p. so that we can concentrate on the upcoming ENQ Year End Results and Update due between two and three weeks time.

With Ed's new propaganda photographer and ever increasing "spin", I know which Ministerial title he should get next.

ENQ off 2.25% and HBR off 7.5% - ouch!

Added a few as the sp dropped into the low 13's whilst Brent is actually rising today.

I am expecting disappointing headlines on the full year results due to a large EPL payment in H2 which will make the figures and particularly net debt figures look poor, but I am hopeful that if they show a reduction in net debt in January '25 that might help, as will a new programme of buybacks, hopefully a larger amount starting earlier in the financial year that June. The other figures to look for will be operating, capital costs and production targets for '25.

I am hoping that now Trump has played his initial cards, Poo will stabilise at or above the current level and sentiment towards O&G and UK policies will change over the coming months.

I hope we'll see a rally into the results and overall a rally through '25, just hope that any deals do not involve vast debt or depress the sp as the result of acquisition indigestion.

Aces, thank you for posting this, AB seems on good form. Three things peeked my interest. Obviously, pursuing acquisition, secondly, a delisting to the US was not ruled out but post using up tax losses and finally, the indication that tax losses would be used up in 5-7 years. For the clever ones on this BB, it would be interesting to calculate where ENQ's balance sheet might be in 5 or 7 years on this basis. It would have to be modelled on the company as it is and post Vietnam acquisition as we have no idea what further UK acquisitions might contribute.

Should be three weeks to next operational update and news on buy backs, something to look forward to with a UK deal being the icing on the cake.

On the basis of a relatively small cost we are increasing revenue by 5300bpd and profit probably taxed at a lower rate than the UK and we are increasing reserves in a new area - I assume that there will be a small re-rating of target sp?

Any guesses?

Hopefully, good news from ENQ will bring ENQ shares to the attention of new investors, a re-rating will also help.

Now just 3+ weeks to operational update and full year figures and Brent slightly higher $79.34 after yesterday's fall.

We have the same sp as we did 4 years ago - go figure?

With the debt reduction, EPL has cost us shareholders around $1000,000,000 or 43p a share and that is not all if you take into account EPL tax and interest paid due to slower pay down of debt etc. Plus lost opportunities higher finance charges etc. We would have been about to celebrate our 60p party if it were not for EPL!

Ron, when I am out and about I chat with friends, neighbours et al. The common them this week and question asked repeatedly is the following:

Who are Starmer, Milliband, Reeves and the UK Government actually working for? Is it the Chinese or the Russians?

If Starmer has any sense, he will sack Milliband and use the opportunity to state that are own NS O&G is better for the UK economy and environment than imported O&G - then cancel EPL to encourage growth and investment in the UK.

It looks like a really good deal based on the figures given and one assumes that the 2030 extension is a given. If someone could translate these figures into net revenue, net profit etc. I would be very grateful. I have had a go, but my figures look too good to be true, although they do not account for capital costs, operational costs and production decline, which all will require guestimates. The other interesting question for IR - what is the current field production efficiency and will ENQ be able to improve on this? I am assuming that ENQ will be the operators as it states in the RNS that ENQ is increasing its operational footprint but does not outright say they are the operator.

Will someone please remind ed, if you rely on wind and solar, then you need a two keir, I mean tier power generation system which surely costs close to twice as much (infrastructure costs etc.) to maintain the UK's power supply.

I reckon that means Ed will have to put 1000m2 of solar and a couple of windmills in everyone's gardens, although by then we will not be able to afford a garden.

It was early July, when Brent was last at this level and ENQ was in the 13's, it is true that the EPL payment will have made a dent in the H2 figures, but compared with a week ago, we are £138,000 a day better off after EPL with both Brent and the weak pound making a difference.

ENQ is just a month away from announcing full year results and hopefully a debt position at the end of January. We also know that costs are coming down big time in 2025, starting April. We know the price of Brent for 2024 and it is currently rising and so it is down to production levels as too how we perform below or above expectation for 2024 and what the 2025 forecast might be.

NS O&G sentiment is changing and interest rates may yet come down which may help going forward.

Debt reduction will start to improve and liquidity increase which is all good for making a deal.
