Just to put some figures out there, Norway today have an excess of power per year of 10TWh. By 2030 with the planned new power sources it will be 20TWh. This is not to say they will not be utilising hydrogen, it has already been announced by the government, some big hydrogen plans. Plus many locations are remote here, it's still cheaper to use a local power source.
ABB have a big presence here, and many good ties with big companies. Where better to demonstrate what is possible then Norway? That's my thinking anyway.
I understand your thinking, though I still say think bigger. Yes they may find some who take up the ev charger at some of those locations, Tesla have just installed the world's most northern super charger station here. The calculations here say if 100% of vehicles were ev here by 2040 the grid could almost cope with some planning. I won't babble on about this, here are some links that excite me with potential possibilities: https://www.google.com/amp/s/cleantechnica.com/2020/05/22/abb-hooking-up-asko-to-electrify-delivery-trucks/amp/
This is a Siemens boat from 5 years ago: https://youtu.be/a6Lp-qV9ZJU I've used it many times, there are far more now, far more advanced.
Hi Haggis, actually I doubt it in the near future. I think when it comes to Norway, we should look one step further. ABB have electric ferries here, there will be more of them coming, plus hydrogen ferries. I'd guess maybe electric boat (eb?!) charging, generators at ports for ship power or possibly ev chargers for companies like eg ASKO, who deliver good and are using electric artic trucks, they have their large warehouses outside of major towns.
I actually bought 20k shares this morning on the dip. I've watched this be manipulated so many times in the past that I said to myself, this time, I will benefit from the game. The strangest part is watching my average buy price go up after a few years of the same price staring back at me!
Hang in there, it may sound impossible but, try not checking the share price during the day, especially during days like these, you'll feel better at 1700 :)
Although I've made jokes about TUVA, we can't be sure what they have actually done and we will never know. As it has been pointed out, you don't publicise a hydrogen EV charger by paying for targetted marketing on Facebook. Alhough I've bought some stupid stuff online after a bottle of wine, I haven't gone too crazy yet!
One thing we do know is that it seems AFC's products have reached who they need to so far, and hopefully we get more news soon on this front. I know I am often targetted on Linkedin by companies selling very specialist and expensive equipment, and this tactic has worked with me. I'm not sure how larger companies would go about this, though I'm sure there are routes that we the public never get to see. For now I'll give TUVA and official pardon on my behalf, let's say the jury is still out.
99.999% an amonialaire, reference to AFC's lower grade hydrogen and ammonia use benefits (still not mentioned enough in all the recent press!)
Looking forward to markets opening tomorrow, help take our minds off what has become the norm for many and has come back with a thump after Christmas. I'm pretty positive myself after some positive articles over the last week.
I love hearing foreign sayings translated to English, sometimes they can turn out be hilarious if directly translated.
Talking of names and on the fun posts before market opens, in Norway the people who did well from NEL got themselves the nickname "nellionaires" (not I, as I sold all mine and put the £ in here!). Perhaps those of you with large holdings who may do well with AFC, can think of a suitable nickname?!
Also on names Der Sack, I wouldn't stress about your surname, a common surname in Norway is "Aspenes", this can cause many slips of foreign tongues!
Nothing exciting, thought I'd mention the Norwegian prime minister had a speech from home on new years eve, she said Norway will invest in hydrogen to fill the gap where the grid and batteries can't cope, they will also start to build more hydrogen boats right away. The main point I post this is that if Norway are planning on using hydrogen to boost up the grid, the market is bigger than I first thought, as the grid here is excellent.
One more thing I see that annoys me, building sites, not only do they have diesel generators, but in colder climates I see several diesel powered heaters, only purpose is to heat working areas.
Otherwise happy new year!
Not to go on about it, but there is a pub in town where all the old (alcohol keen people) drink, they have many scarves from all the games played by Tromsø. I think my memory has been re-wired by being told Tromsø "should" have won, or were winning. Even though I've seen the game several times, I seem to be wired to think Tromsø won. I've seen worse games at that stadium, watching a game in the standing section in a blizzard, turning around to tell my friends I'm cold and all the fans behind bursting in to laughter as my beard and face was completely covered in snow. A timeless photo followed.
Ill try get back to AFC now :)
We all deserve a treat now! It still doesn't seem real to me, all the posts about a quid at Christmas how ever many years ago, and look where we are, just like that. Normally I'd be a little more conservative with some profits, but I think with what I've (we've)been through with AFC, I am going to splurge a little. Once this Covid is over, we will be having a family reunion, all of whom are AFC holders. I'm especially pleased foe those who have been counting on AFC for their pensions, though if in a few years I can pay off my mortgage with money left over to spend, that is life changing for me. There will be drinks at the next AGM!
I've decided on the bottle, I've agreed with myself when we make roughly £1.50 I will buy it. https://www.thewhiskyexchange.com/p/2383/glenlivet-1946-gordon-macphail
Come to Norway and I'll pour you a small taster :)
Well one of these trades is mine. I'm always interested to see if it is listed a buy or a sell, as I've never fully understood it and it has been a topic of conversation on here for many years. Not looking for an explanation, all I need to know is when I buy or sell, thanks for those who have tried to clarify over the years :)
I respect all those holding on now and believe it is the correct decision. I too have taken out my initial investment cost wise, although this was hard after all of these years it has left me with a new feeling I'm not sure how to describe, quite floaty! I only had to sell a small portion of my holding and still have a considerable amount left. It will be a different game for me now with AFC, knowing that I can relax a little. I'm still here for the long term. Never be upset with a profit, and I've never waited as long as I have with AFC, as have many others. All the best to everyone , 2021 looks to be fantastic for AFC and the green sector. Now to decide to whether to invest elsewhere or take Tesla up on an offer they have here for 2 days!
True, I've been that guy in the past when topping up AFC on previous news. I also remember someone on the Norwegian forums asking what kind of an idiot would buy NEL at 10nok (£1), in January, ITM was roughly the same price then too.
Just as a side from all of the Tradegate excitement today, an interesting short read is the AWE brochure from De Nora found on this page: https://www.denora.com/products/applications/energy-storage/alkaline-water-electrolysis.html
Remember we are still in the dark about what is going on with De Nora, though I believe when we do get news on this front, it could be the most interesting yet....
