Just to add Bananaman, I'll come back to Norway again, repeating myself though as we are ahead, ABB have a large presence here, and have just installed EV fast charger number 1000 here. Here is some translated text from their Norwegian department as a taste of what they are doing here, and we can expect the same in other countries very soon. I have used their electric ferry several times myself:
ABB is a world leader in infrastructure for electric vehicles and offers the full range of charging and electrification solutions for electric cars, electric and hybrid buses as well as for ships and railways. The company has delivered charging to 150 of Norway's electric buses - about half of the country's electric bus fleet. In addition, ABB provides charging infrastructure and services to Norway's largest grocery wholesaler, ASKO, for its growing fleet of electric trucks.
ABB's electric mobility solutions also cover the maritime industry in Norway. Examples include shore power in major cruise and ferry ports and supply bases across the country that help reduce emissions by more than 10,000 cars. On the country's busiest passenger ferry connection, the Nesodd ferries, ABB equipment on board contributes to reduced emissions equivalent to 3,000 cars, while the ABB-powered cruise ferry, Vision of the Fjord, transports tourists on a quiet and zero-emission cruise through the iconic Nærøyfjord.
ABB entered the fast charging market in 2010, and has so far sold more than 17,000 fast and lightning chargers in over 80 countries. The commitment to drive electric mobility is most evident through the title partnership with ABB FIA Formula E, which is about to enter its fourth season. From season 9, in 2022-23, ABB will also be the official charging supplier for the championship.
I agree BM2, there are many opportunities, the mind boggles. I was particularly encouraged that AB mentioned power for data centres amongst others, I know many of us have brought this up in the past, and I believe it is the first time AB has mentioned it himself?
Hi Newboy, I've no idea on this company and am not invested myself, though am interested in the technology. https://haydale.com/ There may be others out there working on graphene, it's certainly something which can alter the future of many technologies.
I'm definitely agreeing with you re: peer comparison now Mr. Banana. The way AFC are steadily putting this puzzle together is very promising, and similar to steps taken by other companies. ABB is more than I could have hoped for, I have some close connections here so am very excited to see what AFC and ABB come up with in 2021.
Thanks sharesport. During the darker days, the one thing that kept me invested was the fact that DeNora were involved. Seeing the direction they are taking now, and the increase in mentions of AFC, is extremely exciting.
Welcome aboard! Nice to see you've done some research and see the potential. I'm looking forward to hearing some further news on Denora, there's been some background noise e.g on LinkedIn, though I'd like to think we may have a bright future with them. All the best.
The only thing I know for certain, is that there is a lot of guess work still involved. It's definitely interesting to try and imagine how this thing will operate, and all going well we should find out in the next 3 weeks. There is of course the possibility that we only receive the news it has been delivered and is undergoing testing by EE, with some minimal photos. Let's hope we get a decent report when it happens. If ever there was a time that we could imagine the AFC team being busy behind the scenes, it would be in the days/weeks before they hand over their first finished product.
Thanks for the offer, I'm planning on attending the next AGM if possible, and then taking the family on an English holiday. You can certainly buy me a beer in a rural English pub :) I'm hoping the gbp doesn't continue on its downward trend as it is not doing me any favours!
No worries Jhon, my partner was blown away by me putting on a Christmas romcom, so I owe you one there :)
Thanks to those who replied to the questions earlier on AFC, different thread.
I've thought more about EE, and having read BBs comments I have changed my view on it quite a bit. I still believe it can serve a purpose. I was chatting to my neighbour, he's maybe 60 years old, he said he thought it was 10 years too early to buy an EV, and that's in Norway. I do believe that some of the people who watch this may rethink their position on buying an EV, and depending how the show is presented, may also look at the way they live too. It's early days, so I'm not casting any judgement yet.
I still think it's cool having a high powered EV in a remote place and being charged by a self sufficient charging rig, that can operate in many different climates. I am very excited about seeing this AFC production.
I start this post on a positive note. AFC are on the brink of commercialisation, they have so much going on and so much potential; If I could have bought in now, I may well have done, though I've been through enough and have enough invested here, I'm the world's worst hindsight trader.
I write this post as I've been reading all the posts on here that I've missed, and there are so many that promise instant returns. This is common when a company gains interest. I've been called a conspiracy theorist, though I know first hand people are paid, or post on forums only to benefit themselves. Ignore posts claiming any kind of fancy sounding technical analysis, prices for a date, news on xyz etc...
You will come on here and check the chat to see what is going on, if you are unsure, ask a question. Asking questions gets this board back to where it should be, full of great information, there are some great posters on here with interesting/invaluable knowledge on AFC, only asking questions gives the answers, reading statements amidst the noise is worhtless.
I may be called out for sounding crazy, though I've seen small cap businesses manipulated massively, some make fortunes, others lose fortunes relevant to them. The price today and the rise over the last 2-3 weeks is not the same as previous rises, in my opinion. People say IMO for a reason, read up (DYOR/ask a question then DYOR!).
There are many young people jumping on to these stocks after watching Tesla, ITM, NEL etc etc jump up, and throwing what little money they have in, they do read these boards and they think we know more than them.
Again, call me a nutter, though after a long convrsation this evening with a friend who was one of the most renowned posters on a foreign board, and was paid to influence the board, he reminded me of the power that these boards can have, perhaps not to the SP on a big scale here, though to people, and enough for someone to make money.
Apologies for the rant. Thanks to all of you who continuously post good information.
My SP prediction for tomorrow is 37.9p :)
I'll try again, thanks.
No I don't drink Barolo normally, though after some colourful posts from Jhonboy when drinking Barolo, including some music and film recommendations, I decided to buy a bottle and watch the movie, as it is Christmas. The movie was terrible, I've now turned up for vengeance!
Again, a side note. I've been trying to visualise what may be incorporated in to this AFC charger which we will hopefully see soon. I had a coffee today with someone involved in renewables, on a scientific level, and we tried to make some numbers on what may be required for an all in one self susatinable EV charger (excuse the name). I think that is what I'm looking forward to most, when this piece of kit is released and on TV, we will have to get numbers, figures that will allow us to see what is really going on.
Hi Tetro, I'm afraid you'll have to be more specific, I've read a lot of information now, though I'm unable to find your link.
Sorry to hijack your new thread, I have to ask, Jhonboy, are you still invested? I have had a glass or two of Barolo, and watched "Last Christmas". which you recommended; we need to talk.
Have seen the video, though a hydrogen generation technology using electrolysis and utilising the sun, still leaves a bit to the imagination. I'm hoping we get to see the machine in its entirety, and a working demonstration, which should hopefully be in December.
The posting history is an A to Z of ramping, note sp on last ramp compared to sp today of most of the companies. There were posts by him claiming to have spoken to a director at AFC and that more positive news was to be released the following week
