I was also interested to read about the four Affimer diagnostic assays that Avacta has developed for licensing. (Finncap broker note of 28 Sept.)

They are for
1) Sepsis - a test to differentiate between viral and bacterial infection and therefore allow correct clinical decision making around antibiotic prescription
2) To monitor for Estradiol (E2) during menopause and fertility treatment where current tests are ‘lacking in sensitivity and dynamic range
3) To D-Dimer - a cardiac marker used to detect pulmonary embolism and thrombosis
4) To detect vitamin B12 deficiency (which can result in damage to brain and nervous system). Current tests only measure level of B12 in the blood and not whether it is active or not!

Whatever happened to the Russian vaccine? Remember, the one that Putin tried out on his own daughter? They have been remarkably silent on the subject ever since. There will be a lot of distrust surrounding any new vaccine- wherever it’s produced - until it’s long term efficacy and safety is proven.

I am sure that when the gold standard test arrives, budget will not be a problem.
