Oh no! That's another really highly unlikely supposition being thrown into the mix.

There is nothing even slightly implicit in the RNS to suggest that Spirit is going to pull out. This is pure Occam's Razor stuff at its most straightforward. And has been since the December RNS.

Progressing GWA can't go ahead until Spirit's corporate stuff (sellout of the Centrica portion) is sorted. But GWA is now part of their portfolio, part of what's being sold. Phase 1 (the drilling) is done: essentially positive. But they now can't commit further, so instead let Hurricane use the rig and progress Lancaster meanwhile, which ought to give a positive cash and operational/technical benefit to HUR.

In fact, something's just occurred to me. Regarding possible OGA approval of extending 'suspension' of LC or instead P&A. Who does LC actually 'belong' to? HUR & Spirit now 'jointly' lease the licence. But although HUR were Operator, Spirit paid for the drilling and testing. So maybe it 'belongs' to them. I don't know.

Again, they have their corporate stuff. GWA is good as part of their portfolio, because it's been proved so. But yet again, the oil's not going anywhere, even if the well's P&A'd.

So once more, I don't think anything's 'wrong'. HUR can now go ahead with GLA, while giving Spirit some much-needed breathing space.

Sure, this is the sort of convoluted thinking quite beyond the imagination of 'the market' whose minds are mostly made up with worrying over whether they'll get a seat on the train home, and whether it'll be on time. But it's simple, really.

Personally I think it's good when anyone posts a link to a media article involving HUR, whether that media article is actually informative or complete rubbish (which a lot of them are). And quoting and picking apart 'rubbish' articles here seems quite reasonable to me, because where else is it likely to be done?

I too am interested in the way so many media comments seem to be 'accentuating the negative' in parallel with the SP drop. But remember, all of these so-called 'stock pundits' are being paid by someone, and most journalists don't really care where the money's coming from so long as there's a free buffet thrown in.

I definitely don't want to get into a 'mine's bigger than yours' argument here, but when looking at Lancaster we're looking at an order of magnitude greater: ie 100+ bar. (Btw, I hate 'bar', unless licenced to sell alcohol. Prefer psi.) I'm quite happy and relaxed working with surface pressures of 300 bar or more. During the year I spent dealing with fraccing operations in Poland, we were looking at stuff up to 1000 bar at surface, and very high flowing volumes, as well: that was VERY interesting (and fun!).

I've been thinking about this for the last couple of days, and I'm afraid I disagree with you. I hope that Dr T approaches the thing firing on all guns, and not in a defensive way.

How dare you? The only odd smells in my car come from the empty sandwich wrappers and beercans I throw on the back seat, and the only smoke involved comes from my Camel cigarettes.

In fact, for information, since I took out my spanners a few years ago and 'chipped' the thing (increasing power by about 20bhp) and bypassed the EGR valve ( the stupidest 'environmental control device' invented by man), exhaust emissions have DECREASED by about 25%, plus also (amazingly) slightly decreasing fuel consumption.

I forgot to mention. I completely agree with the 'know when to fold' thing. But it applies to individual hands, not the entire game itself! I actually folded a pair of kings a few weeks ago (not for the first time) on the 'turn' and the other player was gracious enough to show his hand. And I'd made the right decision. Quite a big pot. But left that session in profit, even so.

The two ideas are mutually exclusive. Doesn't compute. You've sat down at the table with a certain amount (which if you've got any sense you can afford to lose), you lose a bit, maybe to a 'bad beat', so you want to leave now?

You shouldn't have joined the game to start with.

I took a horrible 'bad' three weeks ago, so bad I knew I couldn't continue because my mindset would have dorced me on 'tilt'. Sat the next hand, folded my cards, picked up my chips and left. But thet 'bad' had just wiped out 2/3 of my profit. But I was angry, even though I'd covered my diesel, my meal, and was still slightly in profit.

Right now, here, I'm showing a 'paper loss' for the first time since I invested in HUR. Taken a few profits between, but they don't count. Already spent on other things. But being 'behind', am I going to bail out? No way. Still in the game, and that's what counts. The fundamentals haven't changed.

To quote (I think) 'Treetop' Strauss, I've still got a chip and a chair. I don't count the WD result nor possible hiccups with Spirit as 'fundamentals'. Lincoln (or at least at its crest) has been thoroughly proved and shows Dr T ain't talking through his hat. Cashing out now would be utterly stupid. When there are bullies and bluffers around, robbing you blind, it's best to sit tight.

I'm not sure where Arden get their 'binary risk' bit from, though. Either the thing works, or it doesn't. But all the EPS evidence points to the 'concept' working in an empirical way. Which takes it away from being a 'concept' already. The Aoka Mizu isn't virtual reality, nor are those tankers.

But when it boils down to it, what's so terrible about a binary 'win/lose' anyway? If you can't stand the heat, avoid the kitchen.

I've just done a quick internet check, and it appears you're right.

But look at the average mileage figures, and so on. Also, Norway is a small country. So when people do what they call 'long distance' long-distance (not very long), it's often to somewhere they'll stay overnight and can recharge.

It's occured to me, that despite its 'progressiveness' and wealth, I don't think I've noticed a single EV charger here, nor at any of the service stations. I use, even on the motorway. What I did notice the last time I filled the tank was that the GPL pump (an erstwhile 'green' fuel) was not in service.

I play poker, as you know. And as you may or may not know, there are two qualities one absolutely has to possess to make money in that game, or at least the sort I play in. The first being patience, and the second is not to get rattled and make rash decisions if your stack appears to be getting a bit low.

Backup? Backup is my legs and feet. And thos particular 'voitures sans permis' are some of the worst on the market, even though they're all bad.

But on the subject, little electric cars of that sort of size make a lot of sense (just to show I'm not a complete luddite). For people who don't do long distances. And installing charging-banks in town wouldn't be too hard.

In fact, the town where I live is already halfway there, being a very 'progressive' sort of place. Already five years ago, there was the free inner-city circular shuttle-buses, sort of large minibus size. Half of them are now electric. The entire bus service network is now free, even from outlying suburbs. The bus company is also in charge of an offshoot, with electric bicycles and scooters, though there's a charge for them. And this is good, in a town.

The thing is, though, I live right in the centre, so go everywhere on foot.

Also, it makes owning a rangerover a bit absurd. And sometimes I don't use it for four or five days. But when I do, it's unusual that my journey is anything less than 150 miles, which I want to do at speed and in comfort. And I have yet to see a single charging-point outside any of the hotels I stay in or casinos I frequent.

There are only two countries in the world actually 'pushing' this electric vehicle thing; the USA and the UK.

What, a Tesla? You've got to be joking. I run a 16-year-old diesel Rangerover and have no intention of changing it for anything else. Perfect mechanical condition even if it's got a few dents and scratches because I sometimes use it for what it was built for, ie going offroad. And I frequently drive 400 miles+ in a day, so electric cars just don't interest me.

To my mind, the role of a company GFO is NOT to do his work according to the day-to-day share price. Instead it's to ensure the company remains solvent enough to be able to progress its plans to eventual fruition, and it's at that point where shareholders might see 'value' actually realised. And an important part of the word 'shareholders' is the 'holding' bit. What 'market traders' do to the SP shouldn't influence his work at all.

The only significant TR1 involving a big shareholder was that from Kerogen a few months ago, with their sell. But that sell they ended up essentially 'freeriding' this thing, the goal of any good investor.

I doubt they're part of any 'panic selling' right now.

I read your post on my phone in a bar, having a beer, and I admit it made me laugh! Thanks.

The thing being, it reminded me of a scene in one of my alltime favorite films, '48 Hours', starring Nick Nolte as a cop and Eddie Murphy as a prisoner who's been let out for 48 hours so that together they can track down an even worse criminal who's on the run.

Sure I don't need to tell the whole plot. Either you know the movie (in which case you're OK) or don't (in which case stop reading right now 'cos you haven't lived).

The scene where their doing the overnight surveillance of the parking-garage where Murphy's car has been stashed for 3 years, with the loot in the boot (or under the hood, as it's a Porsche), from Nolte's beaten up old Caddy convertible.

Murphy (settling into the back seat to sleep); "Tell me a bedtime story".

Nolte: "F*ck You".

Murphy: "Ah, those are the stories I like the best"....................................................................
