To tweet or not to tweet? That is the question...22 Jan 2020 20:19
"Another twit alias psuching people to twitter, ignore. Really what is the point it directing a user to twitter so that twitter can direct them to the article. twitter twats." (to quote JAdams on the 'Bullish Engulfing' thread).
You raise a good point here. As a cunning linguist I have an interest in these things, my dear departed mother having worked for the OED and my own degree being in languages (and philosophy) despite having lived a professional career in the oilfield. So I remain in touch with people who discuss arcane linguistic topics, including the new verb, to Tweet', and how it is conjugated.
The jury remains out for the moment, as it does with other matter such as whether the POTUS's hat-size is bigger than his IQ, whether the bush-fire smoke in Australia has contributed more to climate change than driving electric cars will reduce it, and whether a UN resolution will stop volcanoes from erupting. And also whether the Navion Oceanic is bringing 500,000 bbls or so of crude oil to Rotterdam, or just some water.
However, I digress.
Conventional wisdom (or opinion) has it as thus so far, regarding the conjugation of the verb deriving from 'Twitter'.
(Present tense)
I Tweet
You Tweet
He Tweets
We Tweet
You Twitteth
They Tweet
However, when referring to the past, things get more difficult.
I Tweeted
You Tweeted
He T w a t (putting in spaces there, so the LSE auto-censor doesn't catch me).
We Tweeted,
You T w a tted
They T w a ts
