Get loaded up over time and hold on til 2026. You’ll be getting 20p a year divis from then on. Simples. You wouldn’t think it reading this lot.
They’ll be paying off debt big time in a couple years.

Hello everyone. I had a little chuckle skimming through the completely irrelevant pension discussion.

I have focused on the share price and put an order on Sunday night for a little cheeky £1000 top up.

I am very pleased to report that I was a jammy little bugger and the purchase price was 172.9p

So is the best course of action to pursue paper certificates from my broker , and then at a future point can I have them converted back onto my brokers account?

I can’t really understand what the benefits are of paper certs , and the downsides of leaving them and doing nothing, waiting for the resumption of trading

I bought some BBC shares at 236. Then 211 on Friday. More funds come in on Monday so will buy a few more at open. Only talking £2000 invested altogether. Then might buy if they go down further. Otherwise I’m happy with a small holding and collect some divis whether reduced or not, until they recover. Sell then rebuy in a dip and hold!

Traders at II’s get information an hour before the rest of the market. Hence why the price dropped an hour before the news article releases.

The debt is why it’s often suppressed, despite decent figures. Nothing to do with game playing, Drahi or talk talk etc.

Just buy the dip and top up.

The strikes will probably end up with an extra £250 quid slapped on and the union will take it.

Yes I know working hard etc is a given . But there are people going home exhausted every day. I haven’t met many engineer who didn’t work very very hard.

Engineers get 32k at Bt
To keep a job at 32k in Bt as an engineer these days, you have to work hard, be experienced, adaptable and also have good interpersonal and communication skills. It is very easy for them to get rid of engineers for defects on work. For which there are endless defect classifications that can apply to every job they attend.

There is no decent pension scheme , no save share scheme, your share has been cancelled, pay eroded etc. and we are talking very experienced people in many cases, new entrants are on less than 32k when at the top of their grade and worse contractual terms and more hours. It takes 4 years to get to 32k

So all those things considered for a skilled role, I don’t think a 1500 pay rise is much to sing about.

Fleccy , Bt is far more profitable than competitors and has a monopoly. Pay shouldn’t be brought into line with competitors. That is called a race to the bottom of wages, something developing nations have with large corporations.

I said all along there would be a strike.

I would like to think bt will come back with an offer of £1900/2000 flat , but I imagine they won’t and strikes will occur.

I am a shareholder but would prefer a settlement as otherwise the sp will go backwards and it will hit profits anyway.

People here saying cwu desperate and that low paid will lose out are clearly biased towards their dividend return.

The pay offer is low and there is scope for Bt to offer a little more to avoid strike , dependent on the ballot outcome. The cwu can’t get what they want without it affecting dividend increases as planned but a bit more can be obtained to compromise and still not affect the dividend plan.

Low paid get 8% higher paid minimum 3.5%. The union said they accept rises should be skewed to low paid. They will negotiate a flat rate of , eg, £1750 or a One off bonus on top of the £1500, meaning more lower paid secure 10% and the higher paid end up with a minimum 4%.

All dependent on ballot , which the union will win, as the workers support them now more than they dud in this last ballot which was a resounding win.

I hope for compromise, move on and look forward to divi increases over the next couple years on route to successful
2025 delivery and a high share price return.
