CAT saved SEE just as covid hit, without its license agreement 4 years back, SEE might not have survived.
Today CAT sells two lines of product
1. DSS - only for heavy mining vehicles, and this is the only product in market that is qualified for heavy mining. Please correct me if i am wrong.
2. Guardian Gen2 for non heavy mining, this includes buses, construction equipment and what not. this solution is not qualified for heavy mining,
So CAT SEE is a balanced partnership, we need their royalties and they dont have alternate solution.
but CAT has its own monitoring back end, so it gets all the license fees.
Every purchase of guardian2 SEE gets upfront whatever the price is negotiated. Royalties not clear. Good news we can now sell to the construction industry.
