I think they call the drill 'the truth machine' and it's got to be a sign of the confidence of NCM the fact they have 8 out there spinning 24/7 throughout the Australian summer.
Roll on this day, 3 weeks when we should see the next installment of results - odds on for the 7th good set in a row
One way or the other - I'm so looking forward to April 30th for the update.
I'm looking forward to seeing what is at the bottom of HAD042 and what HAD043 & HAD039 have in store for us. There's no way that drilling in the SW corner has been so concentrated if it is not going to be good news.
What's the chance that NCM held those results back at the last update to enable them to get more data from that area - maybe they gave us the top of HAD042 as a taster of what was to come - if the top of HAD042 is repeated throughout that area then what are we looking at??
Telfer & Havieron All interstate FIFO has been suspended for the time being. Rosters are being altered to minimise travel and interaction between work groups to minimise the chance of transmission of COVID-19. We recognise our responsibility to help protect people in the remote and regional communities around Telfer. On 17 March 2020 we suspended drive-in, drive-out activities and face-to-face engagement with the Martu people to minimise the risk of spreading COVID-19 to their communities. We continue to provide practical support for their management of this crisis, and in conjunction with the Western Desert Lands Aboriginal Corporation (WDLAC) are working with the Martu to identify and support relevant programmes. Newcrest is also working with the WA Country Health Service (WACHS) as the lead agency for the COVID-19 emergency response in the Pilbara. In addition, as a member of the Chamber of Minerals & Energy in WA (CME), Newcrest is one of 20 companies to donate a total of A$6.6 million to Foodbank, RFDS, and Lifeline.
It's now plain to see why GGP have postponed the Scallywag exploration until later.
'These results confirmed the NW to SE alignment of mineralisation at Cadia so step-out drilling was continued in both directions. Most importantly this drilling was conducted in a manner suited to the discovery and delineation of large mineral systems, with core holes typically 300-600m in length on 200m step-outs.'
'The most significant factors leading to the discovery of Ridgeway include, firstly the use of exploration techniques appropriate to the scale/style of the target being sought. The drilling and geophysics used were able to effectively search for and delineate the metal and alteration zonation patterns of the large Cadia mineralised system in all dimensions, particularly at depth.'
'Secondly, the recognition of the significance of the Cadia mineralisation system encouraged persistence. There was so much ‘smoke’ there just had to be more deposits in the vicinity.'
'Thirdly, the ongoing enthusiasm and financial support for the exploration process from the Board level down, was vital. It was recognised that Newcrest needed Cadia to become bigger and better since it was the key to the immediate future of the Company.'
Well just from the unreported holes that had been started in the last report - we have.
HAD039 - awaiting assays - this looks to be a 'fan' hole with an least 2 offshoots HAD041 - precollar only - this should be completed. HAD042 - awaiting partial assays - they only reported the top of the hole. HAD043 - awaiting assays - this looks to be a 'fan' hole with an least 2 offshoots HAD046 - precollar only - this should be completed. HAD048 - precollar only - this should be completed.
These are the ones highlighted in the last report - so how many more will we see??
I guess the only unknown at this point is whether it will actually go ahead - They might set it up as a virtual conference I guess.
SP is all over the place this am - Up & Down like the proverbial's knickers. Not massive volume either - oh well only 15 more trading days after today until the update on the evening of the 29th.
schlemiel, the CEO of Primorus - Alastair Clayton - is a geologist who studied at the university in Perth and apparently did his thesis paper on Telfer and the Telfer style mineralisation
I guess he's as well qualified as anyone to comment on the drilling at Havieron.
Matty - shouldn't affect the terms of the farm-in at all IMO. It's quite clear that NCM have certain milestones to hit to earn their percentages at Havieron and it's also clear that they have the right of first refusal on all GGP licences in the Paterson.
I already think NCM are serious about Havieron being the future for Telfer but if (and it's a big IF) they are proven to be part of the same system then it will probably force their hand sooner rather than later.
OK - I've mapped the new pads / sites from today's Sat image and here's a screenshot of them with the image of the current drilling to give you an idea of how far all this new activity is from the known area.
I can see the ground disturbance that Chart is referring too OK - looks like it may well be a pad being prepared - the sump liner has not been added yet so it doesn't stand out as a black blob yet - keep an eye on it over the next few weeks.
Looks to me like they are going to either need a few more drill rigs or the ones that have been camped on pads doing the "fan" drilling will be moving soon as they seem to be preparing a lot of pads in the last couple of updates.
I couldn't see anything new in the centre or the NE (as CB thought he saw) but that S/SW area in getting a lot of new attention. The tracks over the dune have become a lot more defined so I'd say a lot more traffic has been heading down there.
