Probably nothing to do with the invasion but everything to do with shaping the consequence? Putin scares the f*ck out of me. So many other disasters are already facing us and now we have the added prospect of an all out East/West escalation of conflict. I think Biden has quite a pivotal role in how that unfolds.

It doesn't make you the sharpest knife in the drawer though. I don't pander to people on this board. This is why I like the fact that LTI doesn't bull sh*t and calls out other people when they do, frequently. Im not one of the people claiming to be an expert here and I don't take sides. I just give the perspective I have on this board and its contributors, same as we all do.

Majorca is very beautiful, in parts. A villa there, with the means to enjoy it, must be a very nice thing to have. Still hoping I might own a roof over my head in the UK one day. As we are the same age, you either did very well for yourself, or had a privileged start in life, or both.

Immigration watch describe themselves as independent and non-political. Other descriptions exist of them as "characterised as a right-wing lobby or pressure group by some commentators and academics", (Wiki). I don't argue that the small boat channel crossings are incredibly perilous. But there are opposing views on the reported "successes" of the Australian system here.

They need greater devolved powers otherwise they stay limited by national legislation; proportionate powers for those areas most affected. I suppose it comes down to a political mindset; whether addressing fragmented communities matters more than personal benefit. I don't think it does in this country anymore, unless you are relatively poor.

Please don't start this again. In reality some people don't. Averaging out supply by population doesn't take into account local pressures. Homelessness is an issue in this country and people in that situation die an awful lot younger than the rest of us.

Not in dispute. LLOY BOD decided on a modest level of growth accompanied by a buyback scheme. My point was if the earnings don't materialise to support that growth in dividend then it would be destructive to continue it, not progressive. Given future uncertainties and the current SP, I am not critical of the BOD decision.

but you have many of the same issues in common, I would imagine. Much harder to acquire housing in the rural areas that are prized for holiday get aways. I would support those areas having powers to limit 2nd home ownership, to provide some proportionate response. Otherwise there is no choice but to move away to a cheaper area.

Buybacks are a one off investment with compound benefits.
An increasing dividend is a year on year compound burden, unless its increase is proportionate with growth in profit.
