Agreed. For those of us old enough to have had mortgages then, the current rates are still eye wateringly low. But I imagine the upwards trend in rates will shock an entire generation who have purchased in the last ten years or so.

Ive always believed I was in the company of retail investors, often middle aged men. Some have financial experience others, like me, do not.

I carried a 40% loss in Lloyds in 2020 and averaged down. It had some drawbacks but I remain in profit and its now paying dividends.
I have other shares that have not been profitable. I still hold them having made a conscious decision not to sell to release the remaining capital.
Thats my choice, so I don't go on those LSE chat boards and whine about it all day.

1 x Winter Fuel Payment (not means tested but restricted to pension age plus)
? x Cold Weather payments (means tested but currently closed, starting again November 22 when it gets cold enough, for long enough

My endorsement of the lack of agreed routes was in relation to small boat channel crossings. There have been some resettlement schemes, Hong Kong as you say and Afghanistan. We are more than happy to provide a welcome when it saves political face. But asking for a coherent scheme for Ukraine was clearly expecting too much.

Rwanda is just a headline to satisfy back benchers. It also serves as a way of obscuring the immediate need for a sustainable response to migration, while it diverts attention away from whatever the latest Government scandal is.

It's fair for everyone to have an opinion and for me to explain why mine is different to yours. I have confidence in the content of his posts that outweighs that of his critics. I have reached that conclusion over the two years or so I have been reading this board. Other than that, I have no more concept of who Lti is, than I have of who you are. Except I think you said you lived in Scotland.
Not sure I agree with you that people get what they deserve in life, but thats a different question. I suppose the thing that disappoints me most about this board is that anyone despises anyone else at all. I lose it sometimes, but mostly in response to posts that single out specific groups as the cause of all our woes, such as migrants, or public sector workers.
If you follow the evidence with Lti's posts, he seems to have a point. I agree it's f'ing annoying when someone else is right all the time, but that is life.

I find your double negatives a bit confusing, why would you think I was lying?
The roof over my head is "mine" but still has two and a half times my salary outstanding on the mortgage, so "mine" in that context, if you like. I wouldn't swap that for your military service though, even though I will continue working for many more years to come.
My savings, which are overweight in Lloyds, are approx half of what I owe. That is why I'm here, as I am interested and invested in LLOY and I have always been open about that.
You on the other hand, still haven't answered the question.
