Im suggesting that young people should be the hope for our future and not blamed for the problems we have. Its a bit like looking in the mirror at our younger selves. If we don't create the right environments and opportunities for all kids to thrive, it becomes their job to stick two fingers up at us.

So maybe not millions but I take your point that amid several hundred thousand young people there are some that cant function in a work environment. But that didn't happen by accident or by Brexit. Ask yourself if you were a young person, would you flip burgers for ten pounds an hour or work county lines for a couple of hundred quid a day?
I think I agree with some of what you say but you could look at this situation as a human skills wastage as much as a shortage.

I don't claim expert knowledge of any financial wrongdoing by May, but decorum and dignity are two words I cant reconcile with Mays term as leader. If the continuum is measuring who abused their position for financial reward I agree she is beyond comparison to Cameron and Blair. Ill always remember her for being the Home Secretary that stepped up the hostile environment and authorised the "Go home or face arrest" vans. Part of the deep disconnect between UK foreign policy and ownership of consequence that resulted in examples such as Windrush. I doubt Priti Patel would have had the chance to be Home Secretary without May's legacy.

I think we all often play "who knows best for LBG" and I have never imagined that made a jot of difference to anyone outside this forum. Discussing the pros and cons of buybacks is a relatively harmless activity. It is interesting to see the opposing points of view continue even tho as you say A1 posted an excellent summary of buybacks previously. There was discussion over to what extent staff share bonuses undermine buybacks. We also discussed whether buybacks can be indicative of a company that doesn't really know what else to do with the spare capital. I don't have a strong opinion about this but care more to see what they do to prioritise making this a great company for the long term. The first question that arises after announcing a smallish dividend is what are they going to do with the rest of the money? Hence the debate.

"the buybacks could well have stopped the share price falling" is a valid point. Some people would prefer to have had the income and might feel the benefits of buybacks can be diluted for private investors, as they were carried out at a higher SP than now. Buybacks are still a return to shareholders though. Everyone will have different opinions whether it's the best use of capital for the situation Lloyds are in. I thought Embark was a shrewd move for example, and don't see myself as being robbed because of it.
