Some of the guys here have very valid points and assumptions.
However I think you are right in your "take-out" of the situation.
Simply Enquest need only $38 for POO to survive . But US shale and SA need a lot lot more than this ! Therefore they will "blink" first pushing POO above our breakeven in the near term. Well before Enquest may need to think about cash issues .

Great ! The oil majors are going to ;
Cut cut cut lads.
Cut your budgets cut your production . PRODUCE a lot less oil ,along with medium and small producers. Send the drilling teams home. Better still those lads will end up getting different jobs outside of the oil and gas industry as they need to feed their families. Cut cut cut.
Eventually when CV passes on bye and the lock downs are lifted. We will realise , as someone will kindly work out that we don't have enough oil !
Then watch it hit the fan !

One thing in life that is always constant is "change" lol.
World oil production is going to shrink big time too. It will also be affected by the virus and not to mention the huge number of businesses going bust or shrinking production ! The weakest (oil producers) will suffer most as they always do in life ! Enquest at this time is NOT one of them.

I am suspicious as to why you have turned so negative and choose to ignore the obvious market situation. Which, I am sure, that you are clever enough to work out for yourself !

I say this because you know that the market is NOT just made up of the demand side. Yes we anticipate large falls in demand. However we do not know yet exactly how big or small they are !
Secondly you know as demand falls it has an impact on supply through lower prices and thus even further falls in supply . This repeats until a market is back in balance.
The demand falls first followed by supply later, however eventually they balance.
This is the basic rules of supply and demand , which you know, but choose to ignore.
The timescale for this will be quicker than most realise as production also begins to fall off a cliff.
Even if I am wrong and it takes a little longer, balance it will. History shows it always does.

Let me explain something ;
A long term holder means exactly that. An investor who is holding equity for the long term. It is really stupid for anyone to believe that by impersonating a Chihuahua and snapping at people's ankles that they will change their minds.
Indeed Long Term Holders have 2 options in dealing with the said Snapping Chihuahua. The first is to ignore it and switch on the filter button. The second one is if you ever meet the said snapping Chihuahua in real life. Do what comes naturally with these snapping dogs. Give them a damn good kicking ! Never let them bite you !
