The wealthy will always need to spend their money and rarely need to budget. They would rather lose 30% on the forecourt than hand it over to the exchequer. This is a far better way to gain “avenue cred” and is, as you say, a far more visible way to extend one's “member"
When you have far more money than you could ever need, you spend it on luxuries such as Aston Martins, often it's the second or third luxury run-around parked in the garage.
The economic tide is turning. The FT is at an all-time high, the wealthy are cashing in and need to waste this money on frivolities, especially ones with heritage and racing kudos, and of course, are beautifully designed and the pinnacle of modern motoring design.
