Fortunate, this is something you have to decide for yourself. Personally, I see the price point as advantageous; one can purchase a lot for a little.

AIM is a place where fortunes are made and lost. There are many trading games you can play if you are unsure about share dealing. Practice for a year with pretend money but real stocks, or invest in funds managed by experts through the likes of Hargreaves Lansdowne or Interactive Investor.

The potential is immense from this level. I still hold every share I purchased before the rise to 2.7p. I could have made over £30,000 if I had sold, but I thoroughly believe that my shares hold considerably more value.

And WTE is not a one-horse company. In addition to the North Falkland Basin Licence PL001, they also have an interest in the Canje license, offshore Guyana, in a basin that has been the highlight of the oil industry for several years, enjoying prolific success from numerous giant oil discoveries.

The 3D seismic survey over license PL001 in 2011 confirmed the structural prospects Zeus and Demeter, and both are thought to be robust closures.

The report of 2013, prepared by Senergy (GB), identifies additional prospectivity in license PL001, following detailed interpretation of a 3D seismic survey acquired in 2011.Senergy’s best estimate of unrisked recoverable prospective resources is 3.083 Bbbl, up 46% on the resource estimate in the 2011 CPR.

The prospects identified in the CPR are mainly in two categories:

1. Forty-six combination structural and stratigraphic traps defined by seismic amplitude anomalies, in cases supported by isopach and structural conformance with the anomaly

2. Fault bounded and four-way dip closed structural traps often with closures at several horizons providing multiple reservoir targets.

Some of the prospects are vertically stacked, offering the potential for drilling targets to combine several objectives to be tested by one well. One example is the Rhea stack, where up to 449 MMbbl of prospective resources could be tested by one well.

Argos has identified 40 additional leads which are currently undergoing mapping.

For second-category prospects - structural traps - mapping of the final processed 3D is unchanged from that reported in the 2011 CPR.

Future work planned on the 3D data includes mapping potential reservoir sands within the Johnson gas discovery, which appears to extend into the license area.

Ian Thomson, chairman of Argos, said: “The 3D seismic data we have obtained is the best quality data seen in the basin to date. This has allowed us to map with confidence numerous stratigraphic prospects associated with the early Cretaceous delta system that is a principal feature of the license area.

“New proprietary geochemistry studies have also confirmed that two proven oil source rocks within the license area are mature for significant volumes of oil generation, and this has added to the improved estimatedchances of success for most of the prospects. “

Also part of the Falklands oil dream and as previously suggested WTE, Westmount Energy. Currently under the radar at 2p, but were trading at less than a penny 4 weeks ago. Some have already made 300% when it spiked at 2.7p upon the realisation that good FID news will make it a multi-bagger. It was up another 5% at close on Friday. There are only 144 million shares in issue.

WTE had 6% interest in the licence PL001. (It was Argos' resources, but they did not have the money to hang on to it.)

Hi Robs, Monetarily it is a small trade, 11k is not a lot, but as a percentage of the company 600,000 shares represent 0.42% ownership.

Someone's made a wise move to get in early before the Falklands dream takes off again. Good news for RKH will skyrocket all companies with an interest in Falklands Oil. And WTE are not a one-shot company; they have fingers in other oily pies, namely, offshore Guyana

It is reasonable to assume that if 5 billion shares are in issue, then there are likely to be a lot of free float shares. In the case of Tertiary Minerals, it seems a correct assumption. So everything I have said about the effects of supply and demand is valid despite me not making the distinction between in issue and free float

TertiaryTotal shares outstanding stand at approximately 4.96 billion. Of these, about 90.43% are considered free float, equating to roughly 4.49 billion shares actively available for public trading. For comparison free float is 84% in Westmount Energy Limited. (Could this be an indication of greater director and institutional investor confidence than the 90% available from Tertiary?)

There are 4.5 billion shares to go around upon good news from Tertiary, whereas there are only 122 million WTE shares for traders to grab if positive FID news comes in from the Falklands. DYOR

So back to my original post, you would be better off investing in a company with considerably fewer shares than 5 billion as with so many shares to go around, it's unlikely to be a multibagger.

Having so many shares means that each share represents very little ownership. Any future share issuance (for fundraising) further dilutes existing shareholders, pushing the price down.

TYM has a history of frequent placings (i.e., selling more shares to raise money), which compounds the issue. Example: If they issue another 1 billion shares at a discount, that increases supply by 20% — pulling the price down even if the market cap stays the same.

A large number of shares spreads the company’s market value thinly, resulting in a very low per-share price (fractions of a penny). TYM’s market cap is around £1.5 million. With ~5 billion shares in issue, this equates to a share price of ~0.03p. ( price not updated today). That price isn’t low because the company is "cheap", it reflects the tiny overall value divided by a huge number of shares. Important: A low share price doesn't mean the stock is a bargain. It can just mean extreme dilution.

So we are in agreement in not so many words, thank you. "Total shares in issue irrelevant, free/available shares relevant". = supply and demand.

My very quick research seems to indicate that the directors own a very small percentage of the 5 billion shares.

Tertiary Minerals (TYM) had approximately 4.07 billion free float shares in issue, according to data from May 2024. That is still one heck of a lot of shares, you must surely agree.

QED; if there is a great demand and fewer shares the price will rise faster.

Think about it, Chap, petrol, toilet rolls, Nintendo Wii, houses, Open your eyes!

Indeed ShareDealer, and due to the factors of supply and demand, if there are fewer shares in issue, then they command a higher price, and the price rise will be faster as traders compete to get in on the act. ( Remember toilet rolls during covid?)

I am curious as to what the share issue of the other companies you mention are. Is it anywhere near 5 billion? However, I find comparison to other companies pointless; they are where they are for a reason, and that reason is not usually about fundamentals and long-term investment potential. On AIM it's all about tradability. Liquidity, supply and demand.

Of Course, I agree, but a company's total value, or market capitalisation, is calculated by multiplying the current share price by the number of shares, the more shares there are the more the money is split between them. That is why prices go down when shares are diluted by further issues. 5 billion shares is a massive amount, I don't know the history of this company, but has it had to raise money time and time again?

And exactly my point, TYM has nearly as many shares as Rolls-Royce, a massive world-famous FT 100 company. TYM is never going to reach £10 in the next 50 years!

Unknown? It looks like a buy to me, Ask 1.90 paid 1.85. That is a very large trade as there are only 144 million shares in issue.
