Yes Trout, of course I have gains on all of my holdings with SML, and that is why I am setting a stop loss, don't worry, I am far from unsure of myself, as you suggest.
It's simple, really; my average is so low that even with bad news, it is unlikely to fall to anywhere near it. I set a stop loss, well below current support, where M/Ms will be hoping to hover up. This preserves some of the gains I have made upon a large fall. I don't need to sell everything to recover my original investment and make a profit. I could have easily got my initial investment back today, last Friday or any day of the last week, and have remaining shares. I didn't, and will let a stop loss do that for me, if necessary.
I am happy to take a smaller profit, preserve cash in a major drop, yet still be in the game. And as you know well, it is a game and that is why it's wise to get that bird in hand. Greed kills profit on AIM. Obviously, although in place as a safety net I am more than happy that it's unlikely to be triggered.
Hope that helps.
